Great value, pretty good rack

iStarUSA WO22AB 22U 4 Post Open Frame Rack
iStarUSA WO22AB 22U 4 Post Open Frame Rack

Pros: Fairly sturdy, pretty cheap, decent paint finish (not perfect of course, some chipping), packaged with closed cell foam, and plastic rap to help protect. Did I mention it's cheap?

Cons: The box I got was a little out of order, and while 99% of the rack was in great shape, it did have a bend on one of the surfaces, but I could take some vise grips and straighten out very easily. The thing is deeper than it might appear in the pictures. So make sure to measure out exactly where you want to put this thing.

Overall Review: This thing is deeper than a fridge, so this is something that is going to take up some space. Plan accordingly, buy some extra square to screw adapters, have a screw driver and pliers, and a nut driver at the ready and you should be good to go. Puts together in pretty short order (8 screws/lock nuts). 5 stars probably would have been twice as much hardware, and some better looking screw heads.

Okay, Decent Price, But Could Be a Lot Better

ASRock EP2C602 SSI EEB Server Motherboard Dual LGA 2011 Intel C602 Supports DDR3 1866 / 1600 / 1333 / 1066 R / LR ECC and UDIMM
ASRock EP2C602 SSI EEB Server Motherboard Dual LGA 2011 Intel C602 Supports DDR3 1866 / 1600 / 1333 / 1066 R / LR ECC and UDIMM

Pros: > the price is good > the number of slots and ILM configuration are nice > hasn't failed on me in a significant manner > No issues using approved RAM

Cons: > I have issues booting w/ a UEFI boot loader > The firmware is old, and hasn't been updated in a long time > I have issues using my PCI audio card, as for what ever reason it won't configure properly when I boot my computer (not a card issue) > The reset button is combination of two 'pads' on the motherboard which requires shorting (why not just use pin header?) > The UEFI/BIOS and BMC/IPMI is very flakey, sometimes the sensors don't work in the EFI/BIOS prompt.

Overall Review: The board is decent, some what reliable, I have had no issues with RAM, but it's been a pain as some times I have to reboot the computer to get my audio card to talk right. I like the board, and will continue to use it, but I will be trying out the EP2C602-4L/D16 in it's place for the foreseeable future, as it's EFI has been updated recently, and it looks like that board gets more attention. Also I would, given my experience digging for the best EEB/EATX boards for dual SandyBridge-EP's that Asrock delivers some good boards, but this board is a little more dated, I kinda wish Asrock would update their EFI for this board, considering it is still sold in stores. It might make a big difference, especially if they can sort out the 'PCI' issue I have during boot, probably an issue t hat might only affect a few users with specific PCI boards, but none the less, it is a board issue.

Decent product / 16 GB of HBM goodness

AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition 100-506061 16GB 2048-bit HBM2 Graphics Card
AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition 100-506061 16GB 2048-bit HBM2 Graphics Card

Pros: I didn't buy this card to play games on, and it worked well with the development drivers being crafted for the upcoming Linux Kernel 4.15

Cons: The card seemed to occasionally freeze, wasn't sure if the drivers or hardware Turned out the card froze up and was left on for a while, when I tried rebooting it was kaput. AMD returns are in Canada :( :( :(

Overall Review: If you buy a 1000$ graphics card that is 'cutting edge' / lacks proper driver support be sure to buy insurance/coverage extending to at least a year if you can. I like the card, but having to send it to Canada to get RMAd is the pits. Not sure AMD should force US customers to go out of country to get an RMA.

Great board, no problems

ASRock X99 WS-E LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock X99 WS-E LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I run this motherboard fully loaded, no real problems, UEFI is solid and the PLX chips make it easy to offer big volume for a low price, despite the X99 premium.

Cons: price, if it were 250 or lower, it would be perfect

Overall Review: I use this board in conjunction with an 5820K to drive a 10Gbe/1Gbe router/firewall/vpn/... works pretty good. The PLX chips allow me to run every slot in pretty much any configuration I want, which means I don't have to compromise too hard on board, & price. This board while expensive offers a lot of opportunities for people who demand PCIE lanes and a solid processor capable of 4GHz+

Nice set of rails, but might not work for other MFR's solutions

SUPERMICRO CSE-PT26L-B 4U Chassis Rail Kit - Bulk packaging -
SUPERMICRO CSE-PT26L-B 4U Chassis Rail Kit - Bulk packaging -

Pros: I have had great luck with these on a couple 2u super micro chassis, but when I tried to pair these up against some other maker's boxes it didn't work out to well. I have a drill, and a dremel, so grinding, cutting and drilling are not the problem, it seems some boxes 4u/2u what ever, are just a mm off other brands or so, and this is all that needs to be the difference.

Cons: Nice set of rails, but probably only works with supermicro chassis.

My card had the wrong chip in it ...

MSI Radeon R7 250 2GB DDR3 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card R7 250 2GD3 OC
MSI Radeon R7 250 2GB DDR3 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card R7 250 2GD3 OC

Pros: price, it's not terribly expensive right?

Cons: When I did an 'lspci' command from my Linux terminal I was surprised to find that this card had a mobile GPU in it, I believe it was a solar system class GPU, not an R7 GPU. So I could not use it with the driver stack, and had to return it.

Overall Review: It's a cheap card, and if you run windows, you probably won't notice that it has another GPU in it, vs what is advertised. But if you need a budget card with the right driver, do not buy this. Especially if you don't have Windows.
