Whoa.. IO has never felt better
Pros: NO RAID Real HBA PCI Gen 3 Works awesome with Windows Storage Spaces
Overall Review: I'm using this on my whitebox hypervisor. Since ESX doesn't let you do anything with storage system i decided to use hyper-v and windows storage spaces. My storage space is a combo of ssd and hhd which is called a "tiered pool". With a TP windows puts the "hot" files on SSD and "cold" on HHD. I've also configured each volume with its own SSD write cache (storage space parameter). Result: Super fast VMs. No disk contention, no exhausted disk caches, no more lengthy disk queues. This is a great freaken product.
Newegg Combo Deal initial RAM Issues
Pros: Well built quality product MSI software doesn't suck Tons of bios options
Cons: BIOS that ships with board has compatibility issues
Overall Review: I've only been running this rig for few hours so it's "too new to rate" but i wanted to share my experience with Newegg combo. The combo included G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 RAM, Intel Core i7-7700k Processor and free MSI wifi/BT PCI-E adapter. I purchased Cooler Master Hyper 212-EVO cooler, Corsiar CXM 650W PSU and SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD. Windows was crashing intermittently with various stop codes. Running Windows Memory Diagnostics reported a "hardware issue" but upon reboot the system would crash again so i could never see the test results. At this point i'm thinking i have bad ram. Before starting RMA i went to MSI website to see if BIOS update was available. Sure enough, there was an update! The release notes read "Improved memory compatibility and improved Samsung NVME 960 compatibility". Cool! I updated BIOS using MSI Live Update and re-ran the Windows Memory Diagnostics and it ran without any errors! Hope this helps someone avoid dreaded RMA process. PS after reading some of the reviews on this site i'm running XMP mem profile 1
