Very Good

LITE-ON Black 4X BD-ROM 12X DVD-ROM 32X CD-ROM SATA Internal 4X Blu-ray DVD ROM Model DH-4O1S-08
LITE-ON Black 4X BD-ROM 12X DVD-ROM 32X CD-ROM SATA Internal 4X Blu-ray DVD ROM Model DH-4O1S-08

Pros: Great picture. No drive related problems so far. Retail version comes bundled with silver bezel, PowerDVD BD software, and SATA cables/screws.

Cons: It had a modest drop in price shortly after purchasing it....which is good for those who have waited. The drive is slighlty longer than most Lite On drives, so it was a tighter fit in my HTPC. I have only had one Blu Ray disc that has given me trouble (Fantastic 4: Silver Surfer) which I think may be the fault of the PowerDVD BD software that comes bundled with drive.

Overall Review: My Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H motherboard has the 690G chipset which is supposedly approved to support playback of HD movies. While it does play back BR, it does so with stuttering. I had to add a spare X1650XT card for smooth playback at 720p/1080i on my TV and Projector. I am running this with an AMD 64 X2 4200+ and 2GB GSkill memory. I recommend getting Any DVD HD software to alleviate any hiccups with compatability. I am able to get 5.1 sound with PowerDVD BD via SPDIF out on my motherboard with the aide of Any DVD HD software. Saved me from having to upgrade to PowerDVD Ultra, which is an additonal $80 - $100 depending.

I would buy again

Klipsch RP-280F Reference Premiere Floorstanding Speaker With Dual 8" Cerametallic Cone Woofers - Each (Cherry)
Klipsch RP-280F Reference Premiere Floorstanding Speaker With Dual 8" Cerametallic Cone Woofers - Each (Cherry)

Pros: I think these sound great, but sound is somewhat subjective. i was upgrading from some older polk floor speakers. they have a magnetic grill which is nice. cherry color isnt my favorite, but these will reside in my basement theater room which people dont see often. i was going to just paint them black, but i decided the cherry doesnt look that bad in person. the savings of them discounting the cherry was worth it for me.

Cons: not a con against the speaker itself but more for the shipping. box was in rough shape and had several holes and tears. one of the tweeters wasnt working but had read on another review somewhere that wires can come disconnected during shipping. disassembly of the tweeter was not difficult, just followed instructions found online - sure enough, one of the wires was disconnected, so i pushed it back on the blade and fixed the problem. im not surprised that a wire got knocked loose in shipping, these are heavy and i am sure they got tossed around by the shipping vendor.

Overall Review: Great speaker for the discounted price. i was debating about spending more for their newer rp-8000f but i do not regret getting these. newegg had a combo deal at the time that was the best price i could find anywhere. even with the technical issue of the disconnected wire i would still recommend.

a pleasant surprise

Darksiders PC Game
Darksiders PC Game

Pros: I purchased this game from a different web site on sale. I had no idea what it was about, I read some reviews, most look favorable, so for the price I wasn't out much if I didn't like it. Evidently I spent most of 2010 playing too much WoW and wasn't aware of this game, so it was a very nice surprise to play it. It has quite addictive gameplay, frequent upgrades in weapons, moves, armor, enchancements, collectibles, etc., to keep things feeling fresh (if wanted, you can stick to just one weapon, but it was fun using a variety) As mentioned previously this is a console port, so graphics are sub-par for PC capabilities, it would have been nice to have cutting edge graphics. I used a Xbox 360 PC controller which worked very well.

Cons: . I did have occasional crashes throughout the game, the games autosave feature is farily frequent, plus you have the option to do a manual save during the game, so it was nice to have the additional backup. In spite of crashes, I am still happy to give this game 5 stars, it was very enjoyable.

Overall Review: If I had known about this game earlier, I would have gladly paid more money for it, but I can't complain getting it for a bargain...actually the current price seems like a bargain knowing what I know now. It took me about 18 hours to complete the game, but I was taking my time gathering collectibles along the way. I am now very much looking forward to Darksiders 2 this summer!

still running strong

SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I pruchased two of these last year for a WHS. Have been running in a WHS 2011 media server running 24/7 and with lots of use for the past 11 months. No problems so far whatsoever with both drives.

Cons: Price has increased significantly.

Overall Review: Would buy gain if price ever drops.

Fantastic!

Microsoft Windows Home Server 2011 64-bit - OEM
Microsoft Windows Home Server 2011 64-bit - OEM

Pros: My first experience with a home server, but couldn't ask for better. I never dabbled with WHS v1, so I cannot compare the pros with anything else. I read a lot of forums and reviews prior to taking the plung. Most of the articles I read usually commented on recyling an old computer as a home server, which is what I did. I used an old AMD 3800+ X2 processor, 2GB of Mem and some ancient MSI Mobo. I did buy some new hard drives for my data storage (back when they were a bargain). Installed without any problems, updated software a lot initially then connected client computers without a problem. My server has pretty much run 24/7 for the past 9 months without any problems. I have all my multimedia stored on a 2TB hard drive that is backed up to a seperate, but identical HD. No thoughts on raid as that seems like a headache. I love the remote connection function as well.

Cons: Suckered for buying it when it was first released for about $100 :( WHS 2011 requires a 160GB hard drive for OS installation. There are work arounds for this on wegotserved (excellent website and forum) or other websites. I wish I had known about work arounds when I first installed.

Overall Review: Slysoft AnyDVDHD installed with MyMovies for WHS2011 trial edition works fantastic for storing ISO images and streaming them to my HTPC with MyMovies client trial running. PowerDVD ultra would keep giving me problems with the virtual drive and blu ray content, so I bought Arcsoft Total Media Center 5 and I have not looked back. Wish I knew about that program years ago. I would really like to update my hardware, but since it is an OEM version not sure if the same license would work on new mobo, cpu, ram. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Loving It!

Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe - Quad-tuner Card for Watching Digital Cable TV on the PC, PCI-Express x1 Interface
Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe - Quad-tuner Card for Watching Digital Cable TV on the PC, PCI-Express x1 Interface

Pros: I have owned this for 8 months now and I have been very pleased overall. Initial installation was not as horendous for me as some others reviewers describe. Ceton online installation instructions are pretty straight forward. The most difficult part was getting the cable card authenticated from the cable company, this just ended up taking about 30 minutes to try to get the cable company phone tech support to understand what exactly I was wanting. The cable company tech transposed a couple of numbers in the authentication key, and this set things back a little as well. Once activated and setup through WMC picked up the card and was watching TV in no time. The card does get warm and I would occasionally get some artifacts in my signal when watching a recorded show that had recoreded at the same time as recording 3 other shows, so adding a case fan solved this problem. I ended up building a new a new HTPC a couple months ago, and setup was flawless again. Works on Win 7 32/64

Cons: Initial attempts at setting up Network tuning was unsuccesful. After several frustrated attempts I did discover from someone elses posts that a wired LAN connection was required to get this to succesfully work. Once i did use a wired connection, I was able to get the network tuning to work briefly. Some problems with the network creating a bridge and finding my remote PC after I had restarted it became too much of a headache. and I got tired of trying to figure out so gave up on it in the end. I don't really watch live TV....actually, I avoid live TV at all possible. So not a big deal for me, I can watch recorded TV streamed to my other PC just fine through WMC. I am not sure if the wired connection is still required at this point in time. I had one channel - TBS that would say I had a poor signal on, video and audio would show up, then video go blank, but audio would continue. This persisted for some time, eventually one of the driver or firmware updates corrected this.

Overall Review: I live in Idaho and the only cable company in my area is CableOne. I did not need a tunning adapter for anyone that reads this that lives in my area. TECH SUPPORT: my initial attempts at tech support via email went unanswered trying to get a few issues ironed out as mentioned above. Unchrist-like thoughts ensued. I decided to give them one more shot, and for some reason ended up using a different email account to send inquiry and got a ticket request confirmation shortly thereafter. This was followed by an actual email from tech support addressing my specific concerns. For some reason my emails from my one account were not making it through and my others were, because as long as I used the one account, I would always get a ticket confirmation, followed by a very knowledgeable response everytime. So my faith in their support was restored. Take home point, if you do not get a ticket support confirmation of your email, their support probably didn't get it, try a different ema
