Pros: Good design - modular system means you don't have a bunch of extra PSU connectors to cable tie to the back of the case. Heavy duty cables means they leak less electronic noise. LOTS of cables included - everything you'll need and then a few more. Dual fans are variable, so it's not noisier than needed when idle. As always, Antec has delivered a high quality product for a reasonable price. Delivers all the power it's supposed to - rated at 500w under full load as near as I can tell it's pushing about 520w. Always nice to get a bit MORE than you're supposed to when so often with PC parts you get less.
Cons: Initially I wished I had one more cable connection on the PSU, but once I started building I realized there were enough connections if I planned ahead a bit. Helped keep my case less cluttered than it would have been otherwise.
Overall Review: I'd never given much thought in the past to my PSUs - as long as they were supplying the power they were supposed to. Now that I've used one with an intellegent design, I'll be a lot pickier about my future PSUs.
Pros: Does everything I need it to do, and was reasonably priced
Cons: As mentioned other places, the quality control is non-existent. There were a few bent pins and the metal around the eSata port was bent and blocking the port.
Overall Review: We'll see how long it lasts. It was a trivial amount of time to repair the minor issues (pins and blocked port). Hopefully the build quality of the functional components is better.
Pros: Cheap! Glass.
Cons: Cheap! This is a $20 set of 3 filters for 77mm lenses. I shoot Cannon, which means there isn't a lens out there at this size for less than $1000. I took the combo because I can use one of these to protect my lens when it isn't being used. No way I'm putting one of these on a Canon "L" class lens for shooting.
Overall Review: Glass, so they should provide a bit of protection (and therefore peace of mind) while the lens is being stored in it's case.
Horrible Service, shoddy quality
Pros: Small, light and looks cool. It's poor quality. I bought 3 of these, and out of the 3, 2 had warped cases. I sent one in for repair (see story below) and after what happened with that one, I asked the retailer to take the other 2 back. They made an exception and did.
Cons: Mine was broken out of the box - the case was warped. I called in and the recording said to submit a request online, because it would be faster. So I did. 3 days later, I finally get a reply from my online submission informing me that I have to call in. I call in and they tell me that I have to pay to ship the unit into the repair facility. I consider simply returning the product, but the 3 days it took the online center to respond had pushed me past the 14 day return window. So I pay the money to send the product that was defective (warped case can't have been shipping damage) into the repair center. 2 weeks later I get it back, and they've replaced the warped base, and in doing so broken the top of the case so that it no longer snaps down tight. I call in again. The rep, without even waiting to see what is wrong or how he can help me, tells me he has to schedule a call back from a level 2 support rep. He is completely disinterested in helping me.
Overall Review: Long story short, out of the 4 people I've spoken with at Acer (2 of which were supervisors), NONE of them had any interest in helping me. BOTH "supervisors" treated me as if it were MY fault they'd shipped a defective product, and that it was my fault that their repair depot had broken it when I sent it in. I've paid $350 for Acer to NOT be able to use my Aspire One for the first 6 weeks I've had it, and I had to pay shipping the first time, and then repack it myself and take an hour of my time to run it down to FedEx the second time. No offer of extending the warranty, or any offer of compensation for my time and money I've wasted on this low quality company and low quality product. Buy the Asus - Acer doesn't want you as a customer.
Pros: 1) 0.255 Pixel Pitch makes the high res look amazing. 2) Color saturation is excellent and highly adjustable. My 19" Diamondtron looks "washed out" next to this display. 3) Magic Tune software offers easy calibration and useful preset configs. 4) Easy adjustment between presets from menu buttons on LCD. 5) High contrast ratio means black looks BLACK. 6) Low dot pitch means no "screen door" effect (unless you put your nose on the screen and REALLY REALLY look for it, you won't notice it) 7) Low response time means unless you "test" for it there is no noticable ghosting or tearing in games or movies. 8) Software allows you to choose if you want "letterbox" for non-native res or if you want "stretching". Personally I prefer having the sharp, crystal clear picture with the black box around it to the stretching. 9) Sturdy, adjustable stand with pivot and easy rotation software. 10) Excellent value for the price. 11) It's HUGE. I upgraded from a 19" CRT and it looks HUGE.
Cons: It's an LCD, and that technology has it's limitations. You'll need a good vid card to run games at the native res, but my x850xt handles it without a problem and you can pick one of those up for a reasonable price without breaking the bank.
Overall Review: I bought locally so I paid a bit more, but I had narrowed down my choices to 4 LCDs and wanted to test each in my home, so I was willing to pay a bit more for ease of return. By the time I picked this one up (last) I was having a LOT of trouble deciding which of the other 3 to go with - it was really hard to pick one, even tho I wasn't completely happy with any of them. Once I hooked this LCD up it took me less than 30 minutes to decide that this was BY FAR the best choice for me. I liked it better than all of the more expensive LCDs I'd looked at. It's a beautiful thing...
Pros: fast response and great color. Tweaked the contrast down as well as the brightness. Height and tilt adjustment. Very little backlight bleeding when monitor is on "blank" screen saver, but not noticable otherwise.
Cons: Native res not supported by all games. For games it is supported for - WOW WOW!
Overall Review: I think it's gonna take a while to get used to the WS format, but for this price it's a lot of screen for very little scratch.
