Works as Expected
Pros: - Good price per GB
Cons: - No carrying case
Overall Review: Came in simple and non-wasteful packaging. Do note it doesn't include a carrying case (if that's important to you).
Impressive Product Impressive Price
Pros: - High quality build - Super easy to set-up - Looks nice on desk - Activity light is subtle and not blinding bright - Sits in a nice padded cradle to it sits vertically on your desk - Aluminum case has a firm feel to it
Cons: - No instructions on how to format/partition for the Mac OS, just for Windows.
Overall Review: I expected something at this price point to be a piece of junk, but based upon other high reviews I took a chance. I was NOT disappointed and kept saying to myself as I was setting it up, "I can't believe I got a product of this quality at this amazing price"! In fact, I ordered two to house a Western Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB. It fit perfectly. Set-up for the first one was about 15 minutes because I was learning - this included physically putting it together and learning how to format/partition with the Mac OS. The second drive took about 5 minutes now that I knew what I was doing. Speaking of setting up with the Mac OS, it couldn't be easier. USB 2.0 is fast enough for me, and I didn't need Firewire to daisy chain them since the dual USB connections made it easy. Highly recommended and will buy again if the need arises.
Excellent Drive & Value
Pros: - Great price per GB - Excellent reviews with the low reviews not showing a problematic trend - Fits wonderfully with the Rosewill RX35-AT-SU External Enclosure - Easy to format/partition with Mac OS/X
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Based upon past experience I went with a Western Digital drive. This drive had the capacity I needed at a price that was excellent per GB. I also looked for a drive with high ratings, where the low ones were due to unique situations and not a trend of bad performance. I purchased this drive to insert into the Rosewill RX35-AT-SU External Enclosure, and act as a back-up data device for my iMac. As has been noted elsewhere, all that's included is the drive. So I had to search Google for how to format/partition the drive with the Apple OS, and instructions were readily available online. The drive is quiet, fast, and when on for about an hour didn't appear to get too hot. If I encounter problems with this drive long term, I'll be sure to post an update.
