Jack of All Trades: Good Value

SAMSUNG ToC T220HD Rose Black 22" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in DTV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Speakers
SAMSUNG ToC T220HD Rose Black 22" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in DTV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Speakers

Pros: If you're looking for a good value, something that gets the job done in a more than pleasing manner then the T220HD is a great bet. Beautiful design, intuitive controls, can watch HDTV on it, and it doubles as a monitor with just over 720p. Calibrated with an X-Rite Eye1 and using the resulting custom ICC profile I'm happy with the color results although I prefer my Mac image. This is more subjective than anything else though. Might be the glossy surface of the Mac, or just what I'm used to. There isn't much new to say that hasn't been said by all the other good reviews yet.

Cons: Viewing Angle: It isn't horrible or unusable, but noticeable if you want to nit pick. Stand: I wish it was more sturdy. Again, this isn't a major problem that you can't use it but it is noticeable and little bumps transfer into monitor wobble. Wish it had a standard mount. Dust: If your room is like mine and collects a lot of dust, you won't need an ion air filter. The monitor will do a fine job attracting every speck of it onto its glossy surface. This isn't really the monitor's fault but be warned, the dark glossy surface makes it very easy to see all the dust collecting on it. (As well as all your fingerprints.)

Overall Review: I chose to purchase this monitor because I was shopping for an HDTV. I was looking at another 19 inch HDTV because it was one of the cheapest sets without going with an unestablished brand. In my extensive search I eventually ran across the T220HD and couldn't for the life of me figure out why it had all these great features, could do everything I wanted, had a larger screen, great inputs, AND be cheaper (a little) than a smaller HDTV. Critical reviews say this HDTV does the job but nothing particularly well... but I didn't really see any other raving reviews of small / cheap HDTV that had top class performance either. Comparison of this product to others might be like apples to oranges, but for the same price you're getting a very large bowling ball sized apple to a regular orange. The T240HD is only $70 more and has full native 1080p resolution. I was going to buy that but compromised with my wallet and workspace size. Overall I'm very happy and feel this is a great value.

Powerful Card: More Prosumer than Consumer

GIGABYTE Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 PCI Express 5.0 ATX Graphics Card GV-N5090GAMING OC-32GD
GIGABYTE Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 PCI Express 5.0 ATX Graphics Card GV-N5090GAMING OC-32GD

Pros: Powerful and Quiet This is a powerful card and it runs surprisingly quiet. I use it for serious AI workdevelopment, applied research, and moreand it's an excellent single-card solution. With 32GB of VRAM, many demanding home workflows become not only possible but convenient. Iteration times are short enough that if you're diving into AI, model training, or experimentation, the speed enables a much faster and more satisfying learning curve.

Cons: The Price The biggest drawback is the price. It's almost impossible to find at MSRPI paid about $700 overand thats just the start. You'll likely end up building the rest of your system around this card to support its full potential. Still, if you truly need what it offers, there aren't many alternatives. The next step down has half the VRAM, and that can be a major bottleneck depending on your workload.

Overall Review: Not Really a Gaming Card Even though it has "gaming" in the name, I wouldnt call this a gaming cardunless youre a dedicated enthusiast who doesnt mind the price. This is a prosumer-level GPU that shines in entry-level AI and workstation-type tasks. It sits in a unique spot: more accessible than the RTX 6000 (with its sky-high price), and significantly more capable than lower-tier 5000-series cards limited by 16GB of VRAM. If your workloads are running up against memory limits or consistently maxing out CUDA core utilization, this card may be what you need.
