Great eBook reader for the price

Ectaco 5" jetBook eBook Reader with Built-in Translators - Graphite (JB5BK -En)
Ectaco 5" jetBook eBook Reader with Built-in Translators - Graphite (JB5BK -En)

Pros: This is a great ebook reader for the price. Really great features to compete with the other readers - Cheaper than competition ($199 at Newegg) - Display is not eInk so page turning is smooth - Buttons are laid out well - mp3 capability for audio books - can display pictures in several formats - supported with firmware upgrades - long battery life - zoom features

Cons: - Smaller screen than competitors (1" smaller) but big enough for normal ebook reading. I use it for reading technical pdf files so I have to read them in landscape mode so it's not the best for these type of files but adequate. - Currently only supports txt, pdf, fb2 for ebooks. Supposedly will support .lit, .epub, html, and mobipocket with the next firmware upgrade in 1Q 2009. - SD card only goes to 2 GB. Currently does not support SDHC for more capacity - No wireless capability hence the lower price - No touchscreen hence the lower price

Overall Review: This is my first dedicated eBook reader. I've been using my computer, laptop, pda and now just the iphone for ebook reading. I've been doing a lot of research on these readers so I did my homework before taking the plunge. The lower cost is what sold me on this. So far I've enjoyed reading with this.

Video Card Still Buggy After Bios Update

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card GV-R777OC-1GD
GIGABYTE Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card GV-R777OC-1GD

Pros: Price and performance. WEI of 7.6. Easy install.

Cons: When I got the video card it would hang on games. Updated to the latest bios (version F5_A,F11_A) and it fixed the hang. Now, occasionally, the card would give me a blank gray screen and I would have to reboot the machine. Real pain.

Overall Review: If I had to do it all over again, I'd get a different video card. Pay a little more for something more stable.

Working great, very pleased

Sans Digital 4 Bay eSATA Port Multiplier JBOD Tower Storage Enclosure (no eSATA Card bundle) TR4M+BNC
Sans Digital 4 Bay eSATA Port Multiplier JBOD Tower Storage Enclosure (no eSATA Card bundle) TR4M+BNC

Pros: - Price after rebate was $80 with an eSata PCI-E card - 4-Bay enclosure worked great with the 2TB drives I put in - Used an eSata ExpressCard that supported port multiplier in my laptop and it recognized all four drives - Enclosure is well-built, looks nice, cooling fans not loud

Cons: - No RAID capability, just JBOD which I knew about when buying it - No USB support but for the price eSata is fine - Wish it turned itself off when I shut down my laptop like my Mediasonic enclosure but I can live with it

Overall Review: Not the best enclosure out there but also not the worst. For the price I paid for it, I'm happy with it and would recommend it to those who don't want to spend a lot of money on an enclosure. I would have given it 5 eggs if it had more features.

Works great but @ 1333 MHz speed

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin PC RAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin PC RAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL

Pros: Great price for 2 x 8GB sticks of memory

Cons: Bought the Ares version of G. SKill memory which my Dell XPS 8500 core i7 Ivy Bridge computer detects at 1333 instead of 1600 speed. So, I bought this to bump my system to 32GB total and hope that this G. Skill memory would not have the same speed problem. Well, the bios detects it as 1333 speed too instead of 1600. Bummer

Overall Review: Won't be buying G. Skill memory anymore unless they solve this problem. I updated the bios to the latest (A06) hoping it would fix the speed problem but it didn't.

Works great but @ 1333 MHz speed

G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C10D-16GAO
G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C10D-16GAO

Pros: 8 GB sticks at a great price

Cons: Just bought a Dell XPS 8500 core i7 Ivy Bridge computer. The computer detects the memory as 1333 instead of 1600 speed. Updated the bios to the latest (A06) and still the computer detects it as 1333 speed. No way to change it in the bios. Should have read the reviews before buying it for the Dell.

Overall Review: Will live with it for right now. Hopefully Dell releases a bios update to fix the problem or G. Skill has a work around.

Cheap Phone

Motorola F3 Unlocked GSM Bar Phone with Speaker Phone
Motorola F3 Unlocked GSM Bar Phone with Speaker Phone

Pros: Inexpensive. Put in AT&T sim card and it worked! Basic cell phone with minimal features. You can make and take a call. Has text capability. Has alarm. Shows date and time.

Cons: Basic features only but it's what I expected for the price w/o any contract.

Overall Review: I dropped my iPhone several times (once in water, didn't work properly for a day) so I wanted another phone just in case my iPhone were to ever stop working. This is my emergency phone until I got to the AT&T store. Also bought it to switch over in case I didn't want to bring the iPhone on trips and wanted something to last a long time between charges.
