Patriot Viper Fang 256GB USB Flash Drive

Patriot Viper Fang 256GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive Model PV256GFB3USB
Patriot Viper Fang 256GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive Model PV256GFB3USB

Pros: Large capacity for the price. If speed is not a factor, then this flash drive is for you.

Cons: Not as fast as my 128GB USB flash drives. Appears to transfer on average about 25-35 mbs on my OS backups of 40 to 75GB. No led light to know when drive is working.

Overall Review: Good price for the size of the flash drive.

Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model DT100G3

Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model DT100G3 - Pack of 2
Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model DT100G3 - Pack of 2

Pros: These Kingston Data Traveler flash drives appear to be well made like my Patriot flash drives. I bought these for boot drives which only use about 1 GB of storage to restore backups for Paragon and Acronis backups.

Cons: No real cons. It does what I bought it for.

Overall Review: I would recommend these Kingston Data Traveler flash drives. I now own 2 of the 32GB and 3 of the 128GB that I use for computer backups.

Patriot Supersonic Rage Prime 1TB USB 3.2 Gen 2 flash drive

Patriot Supersonic Rage Prime 1TB USB 3.2 Gen 2 Flash Drive Model PEF1TBRPMW32U
Patriot Supersonic Rage Prime 1TB USB 3.2 Gen 2 Flash Drive Model PEF1TBRPMW32U

Pros: Fastest USB Flash Drive I have ever used. This is my second 1TB flash drive, and I couldn't pass it up when it went on sale. I have not tested against the new USB type C yet because I prefer the Type A connector as it appears stronger and more universal. I can now backup my computer in under 3 minutes. I really don't need any USB flash drive any faster than this one.

Cons: None unless you are trying to use this with an older computer that does not support USB 3.2 Gen 2 or are using a MSI X570 motherboard.

Overall Review: I believe this is the best type A USB flash drive you could buy for a new computer. I now own 2 1TB and 1 of the 500GB Patriot flash drives. If you own a new computer, get one you won't regret it.

Kingston 128GB Data Traveler 100 G3 USB 3.0 Flash Drive (DT100G3/128GB)

Kingston 128GB DataTraveler 100 G3 USB 3.0 Flash Drive (DT100G3/128GB)
Kingston 128GB DataTraveler 100 G3 USB 3.0 Flash Drive (DT100G3/128GB)

Pros: The best thing about this flash drive is that it is compatible with older computers as well as new ones. The display card for the flash drive lists USB 3.2/3.1/3.0/2.0. All of the new "Fast" flash drives I have purchased lately do not work with my computer I built in June 2019 except this one. I backed up my entire computer Windows 10 (105GB) with Acronis True Image 2021 in 30 minutes. The write speed listed with the Acronis program showed a high of 465mb/s and a low of 256mb/s. Now this is way slower than my Patriot USB 3.1 Gen 1 flash drive which can backup my entire computer in 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the Patriot USB 3.1 Gen 1 flash drives are no longer available and the new Patriot USB drives are not recognized by both of my older computers.

Cons: Not as fast as I would like it to be.

Overall Review: I would recommend this flash drive since this is basically the only flash drive that will work on multiple computer systems at a fairly decent read/write speed. The price is reasonable for what you get. I noticed that the bad reviews for this flash drive are old. Meaning the newer flash drive specs this flash drive has was not available in 2019. Look at the later reviews and you will see they get pretty good reviews.

Asus S513UA-DS74

ASUS VivoBook 15 S513 Thin and Light Laptop, 15.6" FHD Display, AMD Ryzen 7 5700U Processor, Radeon Graphics, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD, Fingerprint, Windows 10 Home, Indie Black, S513UA-DS74
ASUS VivoBook 15 S513 Thin and Light Laptop, 15.6" FHD Display, AMD Ryzen 7 5700U Processor, Radeon Graphics, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD, Fingerprint, Windows 10 Home, Indie Black, S513UA-DS74

Pros: I purchased this laptop for 3 reasons. First, and most important to me was that it had a 1TB PCIe SSD drive. I would never purchase a laptop or desktop with any less storage space because if you plan on keeping the computer for any length of time than you will probably have to upgrade to a larger drive. Also, the fact that PCIe SSD drives are much faster than regular SATA SSD drives. A large drive gives your processor room to work. Second, was the Ryzen 7 5700U processor which according to laptop processor specs ranks up there near the top as it has 8 cores and 16 processors and is even much faster than many of the Intel H class gaming laptop processors. Third, was the free upgrade to Windows 11. I upgraded to Windows 11 right after going thru the startup procedure for Windows 10. I didn't want to miss my opportunity for the free upgrade. I wanted to get accumulated with Windows 11 before I have to upgrade my desktop as I am sure Windows 10 will be phase-out within the next year or so.

Cons: The only real gripe I have is the conflicting Wi-Fi 5 spec. According to the specs listed for the laptop one part says Wi-Fi-5 and further down in the comparison chart it lists Wi-Fi 6. Last year when I purchased an Asus Ryzen 7 4700u laptop for my daughter, it came with Wi-Fi 6. So, I assumed that this was a misprint. A year later most computers come with the latest protocol. However, this was not the case for this laptop. My computer has the Wi-Fi 5 protocol. I checked the download speed with Xfinity and I got an average of 295mb/s. Now I don't plan on using this laptop for gaming so its not a real big deal for me. I have my laptop connected to both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

Overall Review: I would recommend this laptop to anyone who wants an affordable computer that has excellent hardware. I did not experience with any slow programs with the 8GB of ram. However, I plan on upgrading soon to 20GB with one 16GB Crucial 260 pin DDR4 3200 MHz ram module. This computer has 2 4GB Samsung memory modules. One is hardwired and only 1 module is replaceable.

Crucial single 16GB 260 pin DDR4 3200MHz memory module

I would recommend this memory to others looking to upgrade the memory in their laptop. The Micron single 16GB module works great in my Asus VivoBook S513UA-DS74. Now I have a total of 20GB which is more than adequate for my needs. Make sure you look on the internet for how to upgrade memory for VivoBook. One will need a small Phillips screwdriver and a plastic wedge to pry open the rear cover from the laptop. In about 15 to 20 minutes, I had the cover off, removed the 4GB module and popped in the 16GB one. Just take your time removing the rear cover.

Crucial (Micron) 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz 260 pin laptop memory.

I upgraded my Asus VivoBook S513UA-DS74 to 20GB with this memory module. I would recommend this ram to anyone that wants to upgrade their laptop. The upgrade is not difficult, and it took me all of 15 minutes to replace the module. Just make sure you have the proper tool kit. A little plastic tool is all you need to open the laptop after the screws are removed. Go to You Tube and check out memory upgrade videos for VivoBook.

Adesso Keyboard

Received in excellent shape. The PS/2 keyboard is going by the wayside. This is bad for dual boot computers. One needs a PS/2 to boot into a different OS. The USB interface doesn't load the driver until the OS is loaded.
