Pros: This is one fast Core 2 Quad. Using a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 cooler with the 120mm fan pushing air through the cooler and towards the 120mm rear fan in my Antec 900 case, 1.31 vcore and this thing barely touches 63C TJunct at 3.8 GHz. Odds are I could go to 4.0 GHz, but so far I don't need any more speed.
Cons: Price! Still high for a Core 2 Quad.
Overall Review: I need a new graphics card. FSX is barely using 50% of the capacity of this CPU, but my GF8800 GT just can't handle any more. This was a big step up from my old E6850.
Lasted 17 days
Pros: It seemed to be a really good system and I was just finishing the installation of FSX SteamEdition and getting impressive graphics, frame rates and smoothness. The AIO cooling is much quieter than my old air cooled computer.
Cons: On the 17th day of use, it failed to turn on. The RGB indicator on the motherboard indicates power, but attempts to reset and power on the computer failed. I keed my computer on a UPS, so power fluctuations or surges are unlikely. What a waste of time and money.
Overall Review: Buyer beware.
Excellent monitor for flight sims
Pros: Perfect size for my desk and a huge upgrade from my old, 22 inch LCD monitor. The image is crisp, no ghosting that I can detect and no dead or stuck pixels. I do not use the built in speakers, so I cannot evaluate their quality.
Overall Review: If you are looking for a 27 inch curved screen monitor, this one is a good one.
Not bad, not great either.
Pros: Not terribly expensive and the nearly 11 1/2 foot long cord means I will never be putting tension on the cord. The ear pads completely surround my ears instead of sit on them. That makes these pretty comfortable to wear.
Cons: Poor bass response, plain and simple. My Skull Candy headphones produced a much better bass. Sadly, the Skull Candy plastic head band sliders broke, so I bought this JVC set. I had to do a lot of sound sculpting with my equalizer to get decent bass. Mid range and treble is fine, but I had to work hard to get a good bass response.
Overall Review: Good for gaming, I'm a flight sim nut and these feel more like real headphones than a lot of others. If you are an audiophile, look for better, and likely more expensive, headphones. If you are a casual music listener and are on a budget, these will suffice.
Pros: EVGA has great customer service as does NewEgg.
Cons: My card lasted a little over one week. It started artifacting after 1 hour of flying in FSX, it would not run Il2: 1946 in Open GL and in DX9 it artifacts like you wouldn't believe. It now artifacts at game or video launch and crashes the EVGA test program. EVGA had me reinstall drivers and check my PSU, everything except the card is working. I expect I'll receive an RMA number later today.
Overall Review: This is the first Nvidia card I've encountered that had serious problems. Reading the EVGA forums, and other manufacturers forums as well, I think I made a mistake in picking Nvidia for my new card. There is a lot of discussion about poor performance and quality throughout the 400 and 500 series of Nvidia cards. I hope this can be resolved quickly as I prefer Nvidia cards.
