Decent adapter, just be careful to get the right one

FSP Group NB V65 Universal Notebook AC Adapter
FSP Group NB V65 Universal Notebook AC Adapter

Pros: Works decently enough, on the couple laptops I've used it on. No noticeable flaws or performance issues. The tips only fit in a single way, so it makes a good replacement for somebody that doesn't know what "polarity" means.

Cons: This adapter does not have the standard big, black Dell power tip, and the way the page information is laid out on Newegg's website makes this omission easy to overlook. From what I gathered, this is essentially a discontinued model, with the newer NB-V65-CEC taking it's place (the CEC has a few extra tips with it).

Overall Review: The Black tip that does come with this one is for IBM & Lenovo laptops. At a quick glance, it looks VERY close to the popular Dell tip, but it is a couple millimeters too big to work.

Defective card

PowerColor Go! Green Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 CrossFireX Support Low Profile Graphics Card AX5450 1GBK3-SHEV4
PowerColor Go! Green Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 CrossFireX Support Low Profile Graphics Card AX5450 1GBK3-SHEV4

Pros: none, card did not function

Cons: Card did not work in two different motherboards. In one computer (the computer it was purchased for), the computer wouldn't even POST with this card installed. In Motherboard #2, it works on the first boot, but on a second warm-reboot of the system it freezes on POST with a distorted image.

Overall Review: Unfortunately, due to illness and a busy work schedule, I wasn't able to test this card until today, which is a couple days outside of the Newegg return period. I'll be making some calls, but I have a bad feeling I'm going to be out of the money for this card :(

Died just outside of warranty period

Seagate BarraCuda STBD2000101 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Retail Packaging
Seagate BarraCuda STBD2000101 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Retail Packaging

Pros: Drive worked for roughly 3 years.

Cons: The drive died just outside of the Warranty period (less than 6 months from Man. Date, less than 3 months from Date of Purchase). However, I suspect the drive may have been causing issues several months prior, but they weren't issues I associated with the drive until it was too late. The reason for this is that these issues weren't triggering any SMART errors, but there were odd system behaviors, such as slow system POSTing. The problem might be a problem with the drive's electronics as I hear it spin up and the heads read momentarily, then no activity at all.

Overall Review: I've bought a few Seagate drives over the years, for myself and others, but it seems like every Seagate drive I've bought for my own personal use ends up dying in 1-3 years and always just outside of warranty.

Reviewing the game, not the service

Supreme Commander 2 PC Game
Supreme Commander 2 PC Game

Pros: A refined and more optimized engine that doesn't bog-down like the first game. Researching technology & upgrades is an interesting idea but...

Cons: Graphics quality is somewhat lower than the first one. Simplified economy; overall gameplay feels simplified and dumbed-down. AI isn't anything impressive, but the AI in the first game wasn't spectacular either. Experimental units are far less impressive - they're much easier to build now but consequently less devastating and far easier to kill. Singleplayer Campaign is not overly impressive. Voice acting is terrible, and the storyline (what I've seen so far) is predictable and cliche.

Overall Review: While the game isn't bad, it just doesn't feel like Supreme Commander anymore. Replacing the traditional Tech Tier system with a Research system is a nice idea, but in the process they dumbed-down the entire game. Finally, I'm unsure why people have been having so many issues with Steam. I've had no problems with it what-so-ever, and I've used Steam for years now. Steam may not be perfect, but there are DRM systems that are far far worse than Steam.

My thoughts on the game

Star Trek Online: Collector Edition PC Game
Star Trek Online: Collector Edition PC Game

Pros: It's Star Trek. The space battles and scenes are reasonably-well done most of the time. The graphics aren't as high-quality as EVE Online, but they aren't terrible either. Ship battles feel a lot like a streamlined version of the old "Starfleet Command" games, and if you liked those games, you will like the fleet battles here. Also, character customization is reasonably well done. The game uses the Champion engine. While the characters aren't "realistic" in regards to coloration and textures, they don't have the same plastic, fake feel that Champion's creations do.

Cons: Anything that's not space-based needs a lot of work yet. Most of the starbases, starship bridges, planetary structures just don't feel right - mainly due to the poor geometry. Turbolift doors that you can drive a truck through. Ground combat is somewhat dull at the moment, and NPC AI leaves a lot to be desired (especially in regards to pathfinding).

Overall Review: I played the game for the last two weeks of beta, and while I enjoyed my time in the game, I'm going to wait for a few months before returning to it. The game was simply released way too soon. I'm guesstimating that it'll be 4-6 months before the worst of the gameplay bugs will get stomped-out, and that will be when I will look at it again.

Does the job, but could be better

Nippon Labs 2.5" IDE to USB 2.0 External Enclosure Model EN-25USB
Nippon Labs 2.5" IDE to USB 2.0 External Enclosure Model EN-25USB

Pros: Day 0 Review: The drive is small, and so far seems to do the job it's designed for.

Cons: IDE Interface is not keyed at all to prevent improper installation, thus Pin1 had to be determined visually on the device's interface (it was not labeled very well either). Instructions on the driver disk were in a completely unreadable format, despite carrying the .doc extension. Quality of the drive is somewhat lacking. While the metal case is nice, the drive only attaches at two points, and not four. The drive "flops around" inside the case ever so slightly. The USB interface is unusual. USB-A to USB-A is unusual. Generally it would be A to Mini-B for this kind of device. At least the USB-A portion is a double-A plug if extra power is needed (which oftentimes is the case with 2.5 inch drives).

Overall Review: One poster commented about the device not being boot-capable. Currently I am unable to test this functionality - the only 2.5" drive I have on-hand has other data belonging to a customer. Should I get another drive in the near future, I will experiment with this and post my findings here.
