good basic 4k TV for the price
Pros: 42 inch 4K TV for under $250! Picture quality is decent for TV and movies.
Cons: Not very good for intense motion with video games. Disabling EMS helps with that issue, but ghosting is still present and that's due to the fact that this TV has a 8ms response time. No hdmi 2.0 ports so no 4k at 60hz, but that's to be expect from a tv this cheap.
Overall Review: Overall if you are looking for a really cheap 4k tv with decent picture quality and you're not a gamer than this tv is it! But if you are looking for a really good 4k TV with superb picture quality that does gaming and hdmi 2.0 ports then you are in the wrong place and expect to pay a nice premium for a tv like that. for the avg person this tv will do just fine if all you mostly do is watch tv and movies on your tv.
the cons outweigh the pros.
Pros: good on battery life. ddr4. backlit keyboard. 1080p screen.
Cons: cheap feel, upgrading the hardware requires you to dismantle the laptop even to change out the battery. too much panel bleeding around the edges.
Overall Review: i don't know why this laptop is considered a gaming laptop when its specs is of that of a non gaming laptop, but thats not the issue for me seeing as i don't play a lot of games on my laptop. the issue is how cheap it is. you cannot upgrade anything without taking the whole entire laptop apart, you can't even change out the battery without taking apart the laptop. i expect this from a 399 dollar laptop, but not a 799 dollar laptop esp since its considered a gaming laptop. i guess i now know why it's only 649 now. acer really took the cheap route with this laptops casing. and that leads me to the next issue which is it feels cheap. everything is plastic. you can pry open the lcd cover with your finger nails thats how cheap it is. the wifi card they use on this laptop is bad. it cuts out more then any other laptops wifi that i have ever owned by far. why they chose to go with a cheap qualcomm wifi ac single band card over an intel wifi card is beyond me esp when a intel dual band 8260 ac wifi card with bluetooth 4.1 is only 30 dollars retail. i guess acer felt that quanity is more important than quality in even their gaming laptops. i was highly dissapointed in this laptop for the money and will not be buying another acer laptop until they address their quality issues.
Good laptop for the price.
Pros: Intel Core i5 processor. 500gb HD. 6 Cell Battery. Good battery life. Light weight.
Cons: Not easy to upgrade. Must disassemble the laptop to access the HD, RAM, Battery and CPU. No Disc drive.
Overall Review: This laptop is a great deal for the money. This dual core Intel Core i5 4210u has good performance. it's as about as fast as my 4 year old Intel Core i7 840QM that has 4 cores! Amazing how far cpu technology has gotten in just 4 years when a dual core can perform as well as a quad core just a few generations old. The Battery life on this cpu is very good and this laptop comes with a 6 cell battery to boot, where many laptops in this price range only come with a 4 cell battery. The laptop is thin and light weight as well which is always a plus if you use your laptop on the go often. This laptop doesn't come with a Disc drive, but there is a slot to put one in, if you so choose which is nice. I myself, hardly use a disc drive anymore, so it isn't a big deal to me. The only drawback to this laptop is accessing the ram and hard drive if you want to upgrade those or replacing the battery once it dies. In order to upgrade or replace these components, you have to disassemble the laptop to get to those components. But many laptops in this price range seem to be like that. I just looked at a few HPs, Lenovos and Asus laptops around the same price range as this Acer laptop and those too had no easy access ports at the bottom panel to get to those components either without having to disassemble them first, which seems like the norm in this price range. All and all it's a good deal. for people just wanting something that is light weight good on battery life and has a good amount of processing power to handle typical everyday use with ease and then some, for sometime to come.
Great Wifi netowrk card
Pros: For what you are getting it's a really good deal for the price. You get the latest wifi, technology with 802.11AC which makes a big diff from 802.11N\G in range and speed. You get Bluetooth 4.0 which is a big upgrade from Bluetooth 2.1 that I had where connectivity speed was only at 2mb and now it's at 26mb with Bluetooth 4.0 I think what I notice the most is how energy efficient this is. i'm getting an extra 5 to 10 minutes of battery life on avg, then I was getting with my Wireless N. Not a big diff but any kind of way to give the battery more life is always a plus.
Cons: none that I can think of.
Overall Review: Before you upgrade to this card make sure your laptop isn't whitelisted or else you will not be able to upgrade to this card. Asus I know is pretty good about not whitelisting their cards, so you will prob be safe to upgrade to this card if you have an Asus without it getting blocked, but Hp's Lenovo's and Acers are known to whitelist network card upgrades. Not sure about Dell.....
Love this TV!
Pros: Everything from top to bottom works great right out of the box. The picture and sound quality is amazing. It has the best picture and sound quality i have ever seen on a TV this size for this price. I did a lot of research and went to many retail stores and i couldn't find a TV in this size that had not only a great picture but great sound at this price. I think what amazes me the most about this TV is there is no backlight bleed whatsoever. Unlike a lot of TV's especially in this price range where you see backlight bleeding, this TV has none! I kid you not.
Cons: If i can find one con with this tv it's the fact that you only get 2 HDMI ports instead of 3 like with many TV's in this price range, but honestly if that's the only con I can find with this TV then I can def live with it. I mean If i need more HDMI ports I can always buy an HDMI spilter. So it's not a big deal.
Overall Review: It doesn't have internet tv capability, but I use my Xbox 360 anyhow for that stuff. So that doesn't bother me in the least bit. You can always buy an internet TV box for it though if you don't have a gaming console or any other media device. It doesn't have 3D capability built in, but since the TV meets the requirements of viewing 3D content anyhow, I can always buy a 3D converter box for it. If you are looking for a basic HDTV with amazing picture quality and sound at a good price, then this is the TV for you.
