Works great so far

GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Working great for a new media center platform. Connecting this to a Panasonic TH-50PX77U Display mainly to play flac/mp3/video files over a home network. All I really wanted was an upgrade to an old Sempron processor so my winamp visualizations would stop stuttering and this is getting the job done.

Cons: I had a display problem with the included drivers. Early reviews of other motherboards using this chipset are pretty good as well. The upcoming NVIDIA chipsets may be better if you need to do 8-channel LPCM over HDMI.

Overall Review: If I changed the input on my plasma display to something other than the computer's input, when I switched back to the computer, the screen would be black. This was corrected with the latest ATI Catalyst drivers version 8.3 - March 5, 2008. When downloading them, look for the Radeon HD 3400 driver. The card on this motherboard is an HD 3200, but that's not listed on ATI's site yet.

Most Critical Review

Don't buy if you play WoW

GECUBE Radeon X1950PRO 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Graphics Card GC- HV195PGA3-D3(R)

Pros: Installation was flawless. Performance was quite an upgrade over my 6800GT in Bioshock and HL2.

Cons: FPS in World of Warcraft was a downgrade from my 6800GT. I tried different revisions of drivers, different settings, everything I could. I would get 15 fps outside of a major city with no mods and all graphics settings turned down. Even @ 1024x768 I had horrible fps. I throw my old 6800GT back in, and my fps goes back up to 30+.

Overall Review: If you don't play WoW, it seems like a solid card. If you play WoW, then I would suggest looking elsewhere. I doubt it's a setting or compatibility problem with my computer because every game besides WoW works great.

Good Board

Pros: Worked as expected with no problems. DVI video came right up with i3 processor. Very quiet with no fans on chipset.

Cons: No firewire, no manual for BIOS settings.

Overall Review: Had to install drivers from the included CD for x64 Win7. After that, Microsoft Update had no problems detecting everything. Core i3-540 G.SKILL Ripjaws Series DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
