Does a Decent Job
Pros: Does what it's supposed to do. Button to switch fan between two speed settings.
Cons: A bit expensive considering the results.
Overall Review: Did not notice any outstanding temperature changes, so it's more or less on par with stock cooling solutions. Not much change in noise either. Used Arctic Silver thermal paste, even after a few months the drop is pretty insignificant.
Dual Screen Headaches
Pros: Nothing outstanding.
Cons: Problems with dual-display setup (see section below).
Overall Review: We have a bunch of HP Pro 6000 SFF at the office, we connect two monitors to them. Since those PCs only have one VGA port and one Displayport port, we were forced to use this adapter. Our monitors only had VGA, so the DVI version wasn't good. When both screens were connected, one of them with this adapter, the PC refused to boot. The displays would remain dark and would eventually crash it, causing the fan to run at full speed until turned off. When we removed the device, the PC boots normally. Once it starts booting, you can plug back the adapter and it works. However having to unplug it everytime just to start the PC is very inconvenient for our users. We eventually settled for the DVI version, which works awesomely. But we had to replace our monitors with a model that has a DVI port.
It works.
Pros: It works. PC doesn't overheat anymore.
Cons: It's big. The instructions are confusing. The installation is hard especially if you have large hands and fingers. Slightly noisy when it speeds up.
Overall Review: I did not use the included backplate (I assume it was the backplate, the instructions are confusing). I just used the one that was shipped with my Ryzen 5 3600 and it worked fine. I used the included thermal paste. PC now idles at about 40C with loads at about 50-60C. It is a pain to install. I suggest unclipping the fan off the heatsink and connect the fan ahead of time to avoid having to sneak your fingers to the CPU fan connector with the large heatsink in the way. After you install the heatsink, clip the fan back on.
It's okay.
Overall Review: It's a fan. Relatively quiet. Not too bright.
It works.
Pros: It works.
Cons: AMD logo on the rim of the fan can get in the way when inserting RAM modules.
Overall Review: I just wanted something up-to-date for the next generation.
It works.
Pros: Works for my needs.
Cons: I don't recommend it for a HDD since it cannot be fully secured (at least in my case).
Overall Review: It's good enough for a SSD even if it holds in my case bracket with one pair of screw holes (the others don't align). Case: Cougar MX330-X
