Quite Good Actually

CORSAIR Hydro H40 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
CORSAIR Hydro H40 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Pros: With Arctic Silver thermal paste and the included fan feeding air in from outside the case: 52C prime 95 after 4 hours, 46C max running Crysis 2, and 47C rendering a 3D model. The temps were monitored with Speed-Fan and cross checked with a infrared thermometer. They are accurate.

Cons: You have to install it so that the tubes for the radiator are on the bottom. The unit isn't completely airless. If installed in the way I mentioned the air goes to the top of the reservoir in the radiator. Only then does the unit become silent and perform well.

Overall Review: I have a AMD 965 Black @ 1.45 volts 4.12ghz. This translates to a 160+ watt cpu load. So for you low watt Intel guys this is a great buy. A friend of mine has the exact same CPU at the same settings and with his Coolermaster V8 he hits 61C on Prime 95. As far as assembly goes, this was my FIRST computer build EVER. I needed a comp for engineering school and thought: "What if I build one? How hard can it be." That said a monkey could install this cooler. Installation is pretty dang obvious.

Very Good

NZXT Kraken X60 RL-KRX60-01 Ultra Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 280MM
NZXT Kraken X60 RL-KRX60-01 Ultra Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 280MM

Pros: FX 8320 clocked from 3.5GHz to 4.6 GHz. Voltage set at 1.400V. Prime 95 burn for 4 hours. Core Temp registered 49C. I used an infrared thermometer to check the socket temp which clocked in at 48C, so I believe my temps to be accurate.

Cons: The radiator ends extend past the fans by a 1/2 inch on either side length ways. Examine your case before you buy this.

Overall Review: A Hyper 212 from Cooler Master is a true oddity. It ranges from $20 to $25 bucks and for some reason it is nearly the best out there. Before I bought my Kraken I used the Hyper 212 on my 4.6GHz 8320. Temps in Prime 95 peaked at 58C and remained there during the burn in test. The tricky part is there's a large price gap for that 9C difference. That being said the Kraken is the best I've seen in the aio liquid coolers. But in the end I don't know it was worth it because only benchmark software can tell me there is a difference.

Sweet spot

MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC
MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC

Pros: It default clocked to 960 MHz out pf the box yet with some boosting in msi afterburner I settled at 1,320 MHz. Even with the boosted voltage the temperature maxed at only 74CI in 3dmark11 while also being very quiet.

Cons: I'm not sure of there are any cons. Everyone talks about drivers but so far no problems with the AAA titles I have.

Overall Review: This is a sweet spot card for me. At $300 it is still pricy but for what it delivers and for the quietness coming from a gtx 480 I highly recommend this card.

Gtx 560ti league

EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 01G-P3-1282-RX
EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 01G-P3-1282-RX

Pros: I got this when it was on sale for $80 and at that price point this card was a no brainer. Without adjusting the voltage I set the core clock to 700 MHz and have had 0 problems. At this speed I get a consistent 50-60 fps on the high preset in BF3 at 1080p. Works great in far cry 3.

Cons: Is a bit thirsty. Have had this running in my home theater PC for 4 months on a 500 watt power supply. This is also with a power thirsty AMD Phenom ii. So far 0 problems but I feel as though is is the minimum for power supplies. As far as other cons though yea it only supports directx 10, but hey if your focus is your kill count then you can ignore that.

Overall Review: I've been very pleased with this card. At $120 at the time of this post though. I'm not sure it's worth it. At that price point I feel like a gtx 560 or a gtx 650ti would be worth the extra cash, but if you only have the $120 and your hesitating, just get it and enjoy your games.

Solid.

ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: I have build 6 systems with this board. Strong enough to hold a Cooler Master v8 heat sink, very reliable, and very cost effective.

Cons: No sli support, and the power phase setup. See below.

Overall Review: This has 5 power headers unlike some of the otherstuff high end boards. The problem you run into is the power drop with wattage hungry chips. For example: an FX 8120 can only be overclocked at 4.0 ghz stable. There is still a lot more headroom in the cooler, but the board just can't supply the juice, but when you go to a FX 6100 then you can hit 4.4 ghz before the board gives up. Only with the FX 4100 or the Phenom x4's do you reach a point where the board can max out the chip. Not to say this isn't a great board, it's something to keep in mind before you buy it.

Good step

AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W FD8350FRHKBOX Desktop Processor
AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W FD8350FRHKBOX Desktop Processor

Pros: I had a 965 black at 4.2ghz running ProE Wildfire and Solid Works. I am one of the few who use their computer for work. I dropped this into my Gigabyte Ud3 board and clocked it at 4.6ghz with the h80 cooler I had on my 965 earlier. Rendering times a nearly cut in half. About 70% to 80% faster.

Cons: Overclocked, it consumes about 70 more watts than the Intel i7. So I went and changed the 100 watt bulb in my desk lamp to a 20 watt florescent bulb. There, I solved the problem.

Overall Review: Considering how cheep the motherboards and this chip is, it makes and excellent combo for a workstation computer. Keeps up with my buddy's 2600k which is at 4.2 ghz. I highly recommend this for people who do actual work on their computer.
