OEM Packaging sucks

Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Great performance solid reliability. The drive is a bit louder than most drives but whether you're installing it in a Mac Pro or a custom built tower it's not going to be much louder overall considering you have several fans and hard drives running anyway. That and most people that will purchase this drive have already and are willing to sacrificed a few DB for the extra performance.

Cons: Limited capacity

Overall Review: OEM Packaging is terrible for bare hard drives. I've been a long time Newegg customer and love how fast and reliable their shipping is. However I'm going to complain about how they ship the OEM drives with bubble wrap and pop corn. This last one had half the bubbles popped on one side and was sitting flat on the bottom of the box just asking to be damaged. No wonder so many OEM drives arrive DOA or end up dead soon after. I love Newegg so I just hope that they will improve their OEM drive packaging.

Pros: Low price per GB, very fast makes a great system drive.

OCZ Diesel 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive OCZUSBDSL8G
OCZ Diesel 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive OCZUSBDSL8G

Pros: This is by far the fastest Flash drive I've ever used. Good construction, small size.

Cons: It would be nice if it came with a lanyard but for 12 bucks I'm not going to complain.

Overall Review: Quickbench 4.0 results 20MB write speeds, 35MB read speeds

Excellent drive

Western Digital Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Inexpensive, fast, quiet, and cool. Quickbench 4.0 results 109MB write and 115MB read. I installed this drive into my 24" iMac with little trouble. The stock 500GB Seagate 7200.9 drive only got about 55MB/s read/write so this drive is twice as fast.

Cons: OEM packing. I find it strange that one corner of the bubble wrap is always popped with every hard drive that I get from Newegg.

Overall Review: It performs nearly identical to the WD640AAKS which gets about 106MB write, 113MB read but it performs slightly less than the Seagate 640GB which is about 117MB write and 122MB read. All comparisons were made using Quickbench 4.0 on a Mac.
