Very surprising product

Pros: This product is far simpler than I imagined to operate and use, you name it. I used a mobile chipset board 945GT and an older mobile core duo 2.0Ghz in an ATX case. The power supply is the only noise maker in the unit and the entire system consumes about 40-45watts peak during the back-up process. Very responsive for HDV video file sharing. I stream hour long 1440x1080i video playback to clients and get no frame loss. The CPUs never hit 30%. Maybe I could have used a single core and saved more money.
Cons: I had some minor firewall issues, on the server and clients that needed tuned. I installed from the server itself, so after it went and upgraded itself to the latest service pack, I was presented with numerous idiot menus about client tool version conflicts, that masked the real problems, the underlying firewall port issues. With chemo brain, I lost a whole hour on a software goose chase.
Overall Review: I bought a new 1 TB 'green' drive for the product install and feeling insecure about the storage space that it would need, I threw a three year old WD2500KS 250Gig drive as the primary OS install drive. This was a mistake! This product uses so much compression that a 1 TB drive will back-up 8-10 or more TB before filling up. Now I will need re-install the product later in the summer because I fear the near term failure of the three year old drive.
Nightmare product

Pros: Looks like a quality product, but looks are deceiving- I want my time back! This board was DOA and it took me too long to verify it!
Cons: After assembly into a tight case the product flashes a code 15 or 51 because the product guide does not explain the orientation of the display. Assuming I purchased bad memory, I ordered another set and tried again. The board doesn't POST! Used brand new processor. The board did not come with screws. No information about how to return the product to the manufacturer .
Overall Review: Gigabyte, explain how I can get a a new board from you, and darn it test it first!
Defective

Pros: PC wouldn't POST halted within four seconds, got tripped up by the possibility of power supply problem because I didn't put a battery in the multi tester.
Cons: Once burned, never again! Our time is worth more than these 3rd world symptoms. I would rather pay twice as much for quality. This could have been caught at the factory.
Quality Product

Pros: Surprisingly fast, a single platter and noticeably lightweight for a desktop HD.
Cons: IDE interface only;
Overall Review: This inexpensive product adds tremendous new performance life to an old PC.
In Windows Home Server

Pros: quiet, reasonable performance and I might save money because it is installed in a system powered up 24/7/365
Cons: I didn't fully realize that the WHS setups use such aggressive compression. The use of the drive will slow down system restorations when I need to do them. The Black model would have given me more confidence, because whenever things go wrong, I find myself in a hurry.
Overall Review: Ten bucks cheaper
impressive package

Pros: The board is high build quality
Cons: no WiFI
Overall Review: bought another for a friend
