Great Board

GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: This is a great board, I bought the AMD 9850BE to put into this board along with 8GB ram for a home server(one of the many I will end up throwing into my rack) and have discovered this is a great board. It supports hardware Virtualization which is great because I've installed hyper-v.

Cons: The onboard graphics even when using just VGA eats up 512MB of ram, which can be turned off, but will cause you to have no screen output, this making it difficult if you ever need it again. This can be fixed by putting a jumper on the clear cmos switch, which can be a pain because mine was right next to a PCI slot.

Overall Review: All in all great board, Is capable of supporting the 6 core AMD's which I will eventually upgrade too, along with 16GB ram. I plan on using the same case/board/proc combo for all of my servers, including the 12TB storage server I'll be building in the next few months.

Good price

Habey RPC-410 Steel 4U Rackmount Server Chassis 3 External 5.25" Drive Bays
Habey RPC-410 Steel 4U Rackmount Server Chassis 3 External 5.25" Drive Bays

Pros: I bought this for a home server, and will be buying 3-4 more easily to throw into my rack. It's a great buy and can easily hold it's weight with the right screws without rails.

Cons: While the HDD and CDrom bays come out, you will need right angle sata adapters for the HDD's because they stick up, other people noted this and I found out the same thing too, not really a true con, but be weary, you need to buy right angle sata cables.

First AMD buy in a few years.

AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition - Phenom X4 Quad-Core 2.5 GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Desktop Processor - HD985ZXAJ4BGH

Pros: I just bought this processor for a server i was building and have to say it's been great, it's a great multi tasker and at $85 you can't go wrong.

Cons: Nada

Overall Review: Will eventually upgrade to the 6 core proc's at only $200, although will probably wait till they come down a little more, but that is still VERY cheap.

Giant step

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - Core 2 Quad Yorkfield Quad-Core 2.83 GHz LGA 775 95W Desktop Processor - BX80569Q9550

Pros: Insane speed, installed everything faster then ever before. Blows the core 2 duo's away.

Cons: None

Overall Review: This idle's at 31 degress C which isn't bad at all on air, my case has like 5 fans in it though.

GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3LR LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3LR LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Great board, all power connectors placed well, PCIE adapter is nice and actually holds the card in. Dual bios is definatly a plus incase anything ever happens.

Cons: N/a

Overall Review: Built a new system for school cause my Dell Inspiron 530 died 3 days after a 1 year warrenty. Go dell! *laughs. This board is nice because it has 6 sata ports, while im only 17 this is proboly the 8th or 9th computer i've built. Paired this with OCZ Gold 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz, 12MB cache, 1333FSB WD 320GB main, WD TB storage drive and an 8600GT. Seeing as it has 6 sata connections i will eventually put 4 TB drives in RAID 5 for performance, im constantly using photoshop flash and dreamweaver and this was a huge step up from my core 2 duo!
