Good card, when it works.

XFX Radeon HD 4850 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card HD-485X-ZNFC
XFX Radeon HD 4850 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card HD-485X-ZNFC

Pros: This card can run most newer games at decent settings. At extremely high res, you'd be ok with medium settings. At lower res, you'd be able to play most games on high settings.

Cons: Had a few issues with this card... At first, the monitor would flicker on and off. This wasn't my monitors problem, as it worked fine with my previous card. Updated the drivers, and that problem was fixed. Then came a new problem. When using the VGA input, it would boot up and display everything, but after about 10-20 minutes, it would out of nowhere lose connection to the monitor and I could not get it to turn back on unless I did a restart. I then switched to using the VGA to DVI adapter, and so far have not had any issues.

Overall Review: My first ATI purchase. I switched from A Geforce 8600 GTS, and was planning on going with an 8800/9800 gtx, but this card was cheaper and after some research, found out that it's comparable to the 8800/9800. A bit disappointed with the problems that it gave me, but so far am able to run everything I've tried.

Great, cheap card.

EVGA GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Support Graphics Card 256-P2-N762-TR

Pros: A very nice card for the price. Plays most newer games on decent medium settings, and older games flawlessly on high. I played Bioshock with a constant 50+ framerate with the highest settings. A huge improvement from my onboard GeForce 6150 SE. Vista Rating went from 3.0 to a 5.6 (5.9 being the highest) Also, this is a DirectX 10 card. Which is nice for such a cheap price. Future proofing on a budget.

Cons: The power connector is a Molex rather than 6-pin. Now this is only a con to me, because I lack spare Molex and would have preferred the 6-pin but if you have the spare, this shouldn't be a problem for you. Card runs somewhat hot after long periods of gaming, but then again most do.

Overall Review: I don't know if it's just my card, but whenever I start my computer it is EXTREMELY loud until login. After login, it idles down to a much quieter level. All in all, I would suggest this card for a decent medium entry card, especially for the price.

COMPAQ Desktop PC Presario SR5505F(KT526AAR) 4200+ 1GB DDR2 160GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Windows Vista Home Premium

Pros: This computer is very cheap for a decent low-end gaming machine. Works well, and have not had any problems with it after nearly a year. Despite what everyone says about Vista, I found it to be a quite enjoyable operating system. I honestly do see it as just a slightly upgraded XP, which I was a huge fan of.

Cons: Only comes with 1g of RAM and has an intergrated graphics chip (Rougly the equivlant of a real geforce 6200) but both are easily upgradable, for a relatively affordable price. Note* That if you do intend to upgrade your RAM/Graphics card etc, you must also buy a new Power Supply Unit to support your new rig.

Overall Review: I bought this computer when It was 350 dollars! But, I was in need of a computer on the spot so it was worth it. Also keep in mind that this is NOT a 64-bit operating system. Which means, although you could 'physically' put 4gigs of ram into it, you will only get rougly 3g-3.5g of actual usable ram. I suggest buying an additional 1G stick, which will vastly improve your performance.

OCZ Gold 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2G8004GK

Pros: Installation was easy. A nice upgrade from my RAM that came pre-installed on my computer.

Cons: When both sticks were installed, simple load games even had artifacts (Graphic stretching). Ran fine stick one at a time, though. But, I suppose I have a spare 2G stick just in case. Also, the dreaded rebate...I have yet to receive mine, after ordering close to a month ago. But, I've heard that it can take multiple months to even process.

Overall Review: My first Purchase from Newegg, and also first purchase of ocz. I will definately come back to Newegg for my future computer purchases, and I cannot fully judge my RAM because it is unknown if my "dual stick problem" was due to my motherboard, or RAM itself as this is my first RAM switch. Also, on a note for those reading this: If you are not running a 64 Bit Operating system, you will NOT get the full 4 gigs from both sticks. Rather, you will get some number between 3g-3.9g often 3.2-3.5g. I think this may have been my problem as to why both sticks did not work coherently together, but I am not sure.
