A good monitor, but short of perfect

SAMSUNG S27C390H 27" 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, HDMI LCD Monitor
SAMSUNG S27C390H 27" 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, HDMI LCD Monitor

Pros: - Price Point Despite some other users' thoughts I think that the price point for this monitor offsets the cons as much as any other feature. - It's big The 27" monitor was a huge upgrade from my old 19" Acer. - Aesthetics This is a very attractive monitor. While the bezel isn't small, which may prohibit some multi-screen setups, it is very elegant looking. -Tilt I'm going from a monitor that didn't have tilt options to a monitor that does have tilt options so I'm very pleased with the presence of the tilt. Overall pros: I'm happy with this monitor though I'm upgrading from a very old monitor that was in bad shape.

Cons: - No DVI Connection This is a small complaint since DVI to HDMI cables are a very small investment these days. - No VESA Mount Capabilities This actually would have killed the purchase for me if I had noticed it before I completed the purchase. It's a little disheartening because I know that I will, eventually, replace this monitor with something with which I can personalize the mounting option. - It's big The foot print takes up a fairly large (but not disproportionate) amount of space on my desk. Without the option of the VESA mount you're kind of stuck with this. I wouldn't mind the size if it the mount made it increasingly stable. However... - Stability While I don't mind a light weight electronic device the overall weight doesn't seem like it is enough to keep this monster of a monitor upright. My old monitor would put up with any amount of my cat pawing at the bezel and not move considerably. This monitor is not as stable. It doesn't look likely to fall over completely but it is a worry. I would not put this monitor somewhere that it is very likely to be jarred or moved regularly. Overall Cons: This screen is a great overall monitor at a good price but if I were building my dream system I don't think this would be a part of it.

Overall Review: The various Magic view options are suspect. I feel that the reclining angle is more a contrast or brightness boost than an actual function of the monitor to improve viewing angle. When I used this function to watch some Youtube videos in full screen I became very aware of the backlight LEDs at the edges of the screen. This was particularly true of the backlights in the bottom corners of the screen. The touch panel isn't as bad as I've seen others review it. It isn't fantastic but to me it's no better or worse than any other interface. I
