Good Drive

LaCie Design by F.A. Porsche 500GB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive 301103U
LaCie Design by F.A. Porsche 500GB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive 301103U

Pros: I've only owned it about 3 weeks, but so far no problems. My computer actually loads large files from this drive faster than it does my internal (maybe I need to defrag internal? I dunno). Either way, this is everything it claims to be. This is in my opinion, the cheapest 500 gig external that is still 100% dependable.

Cons: As others have mentioned, it does emit a VERY high pitched noise. It's such a high frequency that you don't notice it most of the time, and its not very loud even with my hard drive sitting 1 foot from me on my desk. I'd imagine the sound would be less noticeable if the hard drive wasn't so close to my face.

Overall Review: The sound is such a high frequency, I wouldn't be suprised if some people can't hear it.

Most Critical Review

Meh

LaCie Design by Neil Poulton 500GB USB 2.0 / Firewire400 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive 301313U
LaCie Design by Neil Poulton 500GB USB 2.0 / Firewire400 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive 301313U

Pros: It's your typical external hard drive, compact, easy to hook up and back up files, all the pros of any other external hard drive. Smaller than most drives, sleek, nice looking.

Cons: Mine died after about 18 months. I'm not an idiot, I didn't abuse the drive, it just died. Starts to spin up then stops. Windows won't recognize it because it stops spinning after 1-2 seconds. My Western Digital that I bought 2 years prior is still going strong. This drive may be more artistic but I just lost almost 400GB of data, most of which I did not have backed up (my fault I know, but still... 18 months? You can do better).

Overall Review: Obviously yours probably won't cut out after only 18 months, but be warned, mine did.

Good Card, Fast Rebate

PNY VCGGTX260CXPB GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
PNY VCGGTX260CXPB GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Pros: Works, overclocked to 700MHz core, 1400MHz shader, 1100MHz memory using EVGA Precision and testing for artifacts with ATI tool. I didn't try pushing it further as this build wasn't for me and that was plenty good enough. The fan at stock 40% speed isn't as loud as most aftermarket CPU HSF, so noise isn't a problem. Temps at this speed are reasonable at load (under 65*C for sure). Kick the fan speed up even more and you can get your load temps below 60*C with only a light hum.

Cons: Just as good if not better than any other GTX 260, so no complaints here.

Overall Review: Fastest rebate EVER. I don't remember the exact date of submission, but I'm fairly sure it took less than 4 weeks to get my $30 check. It was definitely under 5 weeks. If you don't get your rebate, you need to go back to kindergarten and learn how to follow directions. The card plays Crysis smoothly with all High settings and 4x MSAA 16x AF. Didn't try Very High since again, this build wasn't for me and High and Very High is trivial if you ask me. PNY GTX 260, E7400 @ 3.9GHz, Gigabyte P45 UD3L, 2x2GB OCZ Reapers, Corsair 550VX PSU, WD Caviar Black 640GB HDD, Antec 300 case.

These aren't as loud as others say

XIGMATEK XSF-F1251 120mm Case Fan PSU Molex Adapter/extender included
XIGMATEK XSF-F1251 120mm Case Fan PSU Molex Adapter/extender included

Pros: Relatively quiet fan that moves a fair amount of air at a reasonable price. Others say this thing is extremely loud, and I disagree. It's not silent but it's not suppose to be. I have this in an Antec 300 case with a Xigmatek Dark Knight CPU cooler. The Dark Knight is definitely the loudest (29dBA) and the fan is quiet in comparison 924 dBA). I'd say it's about on par with the Antec tri-cool fans at their medium setting which is very reasonable. I've heard fans in the high 30's dBA, and this thing isn't even close. high 30's is LOUD, this thing is audible but a quiet hum, and I can almost guarantee you have louder fans in your system if you're overclocking.

Cons: I put my hand in front of the fan and it does move a fair amount of air, better than most at this price point, but it felt a little bit weak. I'm using it as an intake fan to get a little push to my setup and to get some air moving over the hard drive, and it does this very well. I doubt I'd use this by itself as a rear exhaust fan for a case that didn't already have some other exhaust fans. You'll probably want something a little more powerful for that.

Overall Review: Fan came with 4 screws and a 3-pin to molex connector which is convenient.

Solid Board w/ E5200

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Hassle-free P45 that took my E5200 to 3.7GHz with very little tinkering in the BIOS. The comp was for my uncle so I didn't push the board or chip to it's absolute limit (no need to) but was happy with the ease in reaching 3.7GHz with a ~340MHz FSB.

Cons: Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the more expensive boards but it's appropriately priced, and it has everything the average overclocker needs.

Overall Review: Worked with E5200, OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 2x2GB DDR2 800, 9800GT, Antec Earthwatts 430W, Xigmatek HDT-S1283, SG 250GB HDD. I have not RMA-ed this board as it worked, but have had to RMA Gigabyte boards before and their customer service is great! 3-year warranty on all ATX boards and they can determine if it's under warranty just by using the serial number. So no need to keep receipts, and allows the warranty to transfer to another person if you sell the board later (since they only need the serial number and nothing else to RMA). You pay shipping to them, they cover return shipping (standard). But save the packaging, they require double-boxing for returns.

Works Great, Looks Great

Samsung SCX Series SCX-4500 MFC / All-In-One Up to 17 ppm Monochrome USB Laser Printer
Samsung SCX Series SCX-4500 MFC / All-In-One Up to 17 ppm Monochrome USB Laser Printer

Pros: It prints and copies just fine as expected. As others have mentioned, it is extremely quiet when printing which is a nice bonus as I have my computer and printer in my bedroom. I bought this about 5 months ago and I still haven't had to switch out the starter ink cartridge which is surprising. I don't print much, but I've gone through an entire package of paper and it's still going. Past printers I've bought don't even last a stack before the starter cartridge is empty. Another thing I liked is it comes with a nice cloth for dusting the surface which works very well.

Cons: The price, you can get all in one printers that work just as well as this for less. Doesn't come with a USB cable but I had extras so no biggie. Dust accumulates on the surface daily and it must be wiped daily if you want it looking sleek. Adds about 2-3 seconds to my morning routine, so again no biggie.

Overall Review: Let's be honest, you're buying this thing for the looks and it looks great!
