Pros: This card is a GREAT card, I can play oblivion with both HDR + AA on, the only part that the FPS dips to the 10s and 15s is when im outside on the horse, other than that, it looks gorgeous, usually I play with AA off. Oblivion is the only game that this card kind of struggles in, ive played FEAR, bf2/2142 and a lot of other high end games and this card laughs them out. The only reason it even dips in oblivion is because I play it @ 1680 x 1050 my system specs are as follows BenQ FP202W | TT Tsunami VA3000BWA | ASUS P5B Deluxe MoBo | C2D E6600 | Corsair 2 GB DDR800 RAM | Sapphire X1950XT | Seagate 320GB PRT HDD Now my monitor allows me to do 1680 x 1050 which is totally worth it, and my case has very good cable management but this card still manages to go up to 74 degrees C under load, it idles around 47 C and it is whisper quiet most of the time -the only time I even hear the card is on the first 3 seconds on start up.
Cons: I know this isnt really a con, mainly because this is microsoft's fault, not ATi, but in windows Vista, when ever I try to play a game or do any 3d rendering at that matter, whenever I start a 3D Application and the clock speed changes, the card locks up, computer reboots and sometimes I get a blue screen, it is probably because of the heavy level of security on Vista, I suspect that when the card switches to 3d Mode (as you might know, this card has a 3d mode and a 2d mode, the 3d mode is the advertised clocks and the 2d mode. 2D mode is 500/594 and 3D mode is regular 621/1800, this card switches to 3d mode when needed, like in games, just like intel's speed step in intel CPUs, they clock higher when it is needed)the OS thinks that something is being tampered with and does not allow the card to do it, thus the system crashes. I hope that ATi fixes this problem in the next catalyst drivers (7.2, I hope they come out soon)
Overall Review: The fact that this card is only noticeable on the first 3 seconds on start up was quite a surprise for me, it was MUCH better than all the horror stories about the x19xx series coolers. If your going to OC than get a decent cooler for this baby, you wouldnt want it up to like 99 degrees C when your clocks are higher than x1950xtx speeds, would you? Also, do not install the CD drivers, they might give you BSODs and the catalyst control center will not work I assure you, just throw that CD they give you out and opt for the newest drivers on the Ati site. Also, make sure you have two slots, because this thing is as big as a 8800GTS, and will take up not one, but two slots in the back of your case, one for the ports and what not, and the other for the fan. Make sure your case is big enough for this card because although my case is roomy, I had to put my HDD on the third slot because this card took up so much space, I couldnt put my HDD on the first because this card was in the way!
worst PSU ever
Pros: none, absolutely NONE
Cons: When I got this PSU in December, it smelled like burn, when I put it in, it took my GIGABYTE DS3 motherboard and my Intel e6300 with it and some how it fried itself what the hell? I tried to jump start it with a paper clip, than I even tried to buy a pre made jump starter from a different website, and it still didnt work, I can honestly say this is the worst PSU I have ever used I took this to a computer shop, got charged xx amount of money for inspection and they (people @ store) told me the capacitor was busted.
Overall Review: if your's smells burned, DONT PLUG IT IN but also dont get confused from the "oh cripes its burned smell" and the new smell. DO NOT GET THIS POWER SUPPLY, THE POWER SUPPLY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IN THE PC, DONT CHEAP OUT ON IT IF ITS A HIGH END PC, get a nice O** or something along those lines from a well known company and also get this, I called HIPRO and they never picked up, I called and after like 20 rings, I put the phone on my bed for me check out later, came back about 40 minutes later, and for some reason it was STILL RINGING
THIS CARD RULES
Pros: The benchmarks don't like, this card is better than the x1900 512mb! I get 40FPS+ in all my games maxed out cept oblivion, I get that at a constant 35 (but than again my res is 1680 x 1050) my parts are BenQ FP202W | TT Tsunami w/ Side Window| ASUS P5B Deluxe MoBo | C2D E6600 | Corsair 2 GB DDR800 RAM | Sapphire X1950XT | Seagate 320GB PRT HDD I LOVE THIS CARD, BUY IT!
Cons: This card is major loud during start up! But after that, its a lot quieter, much more bearable
Overall Review: BUY IT NAO!!!
