Pros: This processor is a powerhouse! I replaced my AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ and noticed the difference on first boot. Install took all but 5 minutes. Boot up went from a very respectable 27 seconds to 14 seconds. I really don't care how long it takes to boot as long as when it does, it stays booted. I bought this processor for my gaming unit and I'm glad I did. Over clocking this CPU with AMD Overdrive is just fantastic it's so easy. I'm running stable at 3.2 Ghz without adjusting power!!! I know it could easily do much more than that I just don't find it necessary. It does it all without breaking a sweat 18*c idle 32*c at full load. I love this thing, money well spent. The wife wouldn't agree, that's why I didn't ask and won't tell. She'll never know!
Cons: None! Unless the wife finds out. Then it will be price!
Overall Review: MSI K9A2-PLATNIUM, AMD 9870 X4BE, 2 ATI HD2900XT's, 4G CRUCIAL DDR2800, 2 W.D. 150GB RAPTOR HD's, ENERMAX GALAXY EX850 PSU, ZALMAN 9700 CPU FAN, INSIDE A COOLER MASTER CMSTACKER CASE WITH 7 120MM FANS.
It works, I guess,
Pros: It blows air over entire mobo.
Cons: Like everyone else said, the screws are a huge hassle. It takes entirely too long to do something as simple as installing a fan. I threw out the mounting screws that were supplied with the fan. They just didn't fit properly inside the pre-drilled holes. If I'd used them them they would have vibrated loose almost instantly. I used small threaded inserts and machine screws. I'm not sure if it was worth the hassle. $30.00+ after tax and shipping. Then an additional $3.00 for the screws and about 2 hours of my time. Just to drop 2*c? Oh well, 2*c is 2*c.
Overall Review: I give it a poor rating for the mounting hardware. Cooler Master could do better than that.
Pros: Purchased 4 gigs of this memory and I'm glad I did, The price is right and the performance is outstanding. I just wish I hadn't spent as much as I did only two months ago for 4 gigs of Crucial. This ram booted at 1066Mhz on first boot. I haven't over clocked it yet, at this point it's just not necessary it is very fast already.
Overall Review: This is money well spent!
Pros: The install of this board was very simple and straight forward. I really liked the layout especially the spacing of PCIE 1 and PCIE 4 slots. I have 2 HD 2900xt heat factories the extra real estate between those 2 slots has kept them very cool, Ive yet to see them go over 61*c at full load. Overclocking this board is a breeze. I was even comfortable showing my air headed teenage son how to do it, that's scary! The performance gains over my Asus M2R32-MVP are off the charts. From first boot the difference was immediate. Gaming is this systems only job and it does it very well. The graphics are STUNNING! This motherboard brings out the best of 2900xt's. I'm very pleased with this board.
Cons: Not really, I just felt Bios screen is a little busy. At some points it seemed a bit mushed together. But it could've been both my glass eyeballs fogging up?
Overall Review: Some reviewers mentioned that their video cards touched there heat pipes. Mine did not, there isn't a whole lot of clearance. But it's fine.
