Flawless
Pros: Works great! Runs the best games I can throw at it flawlessly. SILENT!
Cons: none
Overall Review: Running Dragon Age:Origins at 1920x1200 with max graphics detail and texture settings and 2AA. No problem.
Poor Quality (Always run memtest!)
Pros: I got this for a good price with rebate. The only reason, I gave this two stars (rather than one) was the good warranty and friendly customer support from Crucial -- both of which come in handy for all the RMAing you'll need to do.
Cons: Unreliable RAM. I've now been through 4 sticks of these and none of them have been able to get through 10 passes of memtest at 1066mHz without error. Of the two sticks in my original order, one was unusable at 800 or 1066mHz -- memtest picked up dozens of errors in its first pass. The other stick had several reproducible errors. I RMA'd both through Crucial. The replacement sticks are better but both of them still show reproducible single bit errors after a few passes of memtest.
Overall Review: You MUST run memtest to verify whether you got working RAM. I've been using memtest+ v2.01. Micron is supposed to make good quality RAM but these chips are just not reliable. I wish there were more alternatives. Why don't consumer mobos come with ECC? That would help minimize the impact of bad RAM. BTW, I'm testing using an ASUS P5K-E with Crucial's recommended timings and voltage. Since the bad memory locations are reproducible and vary from stick to stick, I don't think we can blame the mobo here.
Buy This! Don't waste time with other brands...
Pros: Love it! Ran many passes of Memtest86+ (v2.01) on these sticks with NO errors. I'm running it at 1066mHz and 2.0v on an ASUS P5K-E mobo. Comes with heavy duty heat sinks and stays cool. Cool package with stickers!
Cons: None. It does what it's supposed to do.
Overall Review: There seems to be alot of bad RAM these days even from some of the "Name Brands". I wasted far too much time on a popular but slightly cheaper brand (also sold by NewEgg). Those were rated for the same speed (though at a higher voltage). However, they failed Memtest with hundreds of errors -- I RMA'd them to the manufacturer and even the replacements had errors! Aargh!!! Gave up and bought the G. Skills and wished I'd done so in the first place. Don't waste your time on other brands. Check the reviews and then buy these.
