Weird new layout

Logitech 920-000021 Black 103 Normal Keys 11 Function Keys USB Standard Access Keyboard 600
Logitech 920-000021 Black 103 Normal Keys 11 Function Keys USB Standard Access Keyboard 600

Pros: High quality manufacture from Logitech; slick design and color; tight feel on keypress.

Cons: This keyboard is still technically QWERTY, but little things have been moved around. The Delete Key is now as large as the enter key, the home/end keys have been shifted, and the scroll lock is completely gone. Not a big deal, but downsides nonetheless.

Overall Review: After working with this keyboard for about 4 months, I'm still getting use to the new layout. It also turns out I had an application that could use the scroll lock key. I never noticed until that key was gone. I didn't install the special keyboard application, so most of the special function toggles don't work.

After defective replacement, got three years of service

Team Elite Plus 4GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model TPRD34G1333HC901
Team Elite Plus 4GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model TPRD34G1333HC901

Pros: Worked great, at spec, in a server environment for three years

Cons: -First stick was defective (which newegg replaced quickly) -For $20, 3 years was good, but I expect RAM to last five to ten years -"Lifetime warranty" doesn't mean much when the manufacturer's website (linked through this product page) has no discernible english setting.

Overall Review: I recognize the majority of people are turning over their PCs at least every few years. In that situation, cheap and "disposable" RAM is awesome. For my use (trying to maximize the life of an original i5 server), failed memory is a minor inconvenience, but I still consider this to have been a good value.

Perfect, cheap replacement for AM3+ FX-8350

Plastic AMD AM2 AM2+ AM3 AM3+ FM1 Socket CPU Cooling Fan Bracket Base Blue
Plastic AMD AM2 AM2+ AM3 AM3+ FM1 Socket CPU Cooling Fan Bracket Base Blue

Pros: The heatsink fell off my (idk...) 10 year old FX-8350 system. The plastic bracket had finally snapped under the stress of operating since the age of the dinosaurs. This looked like a perfect replacement on my AM3+ mobo, but I just clipped the broken pieces off one side of the original single-piece plastic and just used one of the plastic retainers in place of what I had. The two plastic clips can be used with the stock backing so there's no need to remove the mobo.

Cons: The original version of this bracket on my system was a single piece, plastic retainer that went around the entire socket/heatsink area. This double-piece retainer set might not work with a very large heatsink.

Overall Review: This was significantly cheaper on AliExpress, but a US based seller on Newegg got it to me (in the American Mid-West) within a week. If you have the time, look elsewhere for a better deal.

Good deal a year ago and paid itself back in Ethereum

MSI Radeon RX 570 8GB GDDR5 PCI Express x16 (Uses x8) ATX Video Card RX 570 8GT OC
MSI Radeon RX 570 8GB GDDR5 PCI Express x16 (Uses x8) ATX Video Card RX 570 8GT OC

Pros: 8GB of Ram means it will be mining ETH until ETH 2.0; still a pretty reliable gaming card if you tweak it with MSI Afterburner; fans seem to still be good after a year of constant mining. Even after a year, it's still mining more than a dollar per day of Ethereum.

Cons: It's a little dated now, so set your expectations accordingly.

Overall Review: At one point, I wasn't paying attention and pushed the clocks a little too high. GPU would intermittently crash and it was difficult to diagnose. It looked like a defective GPU but it was my own derp.

Replaced an SB6121 for 100 mbps xfinity plan

Arris SURFboard SB6190 Gigabit Ethernet Cable Modem - 1.4 Gbps - Fast / Gigabit Ethernet
Arris SURFboard SB6190 Gigabit Ethernet Cable Modem - 1.4 Gbps - Fast / Gigabit Ethernet

Pros: -32 Channels -achieving over 100mbps on Comcast -refurbished product was not DOA -No call required to activate on xfinity.com/activate

Cons: -Takes at least two minutes to sync with the line -no front facing LAN indicator -Comcast's provisioning restricted access to the stats and log page

Overall Review: Bought this refurbished modem to replace a perfectly working sb6121 that Comcast refused to reprovision at 100mbps (below it's rated speed). This product was half the price of it's brand-new counterpart and only a bit more than an SB6183. I performed a direct swap of the modems and went through the xfinity activation process with a laptop directly connected. Only snag I hit was getting my router reconnected. Somehow the router was maxing at the old speeds until I performed a factory reset. After that it's worked fine for an entire day. I'll update this review if/when the device fails.

Watched for a sale, then took a chance. It's definitely a refurb.

Apple Laptop MacBook Air MC968LL/A Intel Core i5 2nd Gen 2467M (1.60 GHz) 2 GB Memory 64 GB SSD 11.6" Mac OS X v10.7 Lion (B Grade)
Apple Laptop MacBook Air MC968LL/A Intel Core i5 2nd Gen 2467M (1.60 GHz) 2 GB Memory 64 GB SSD 11.6" Mac OS X v10.7 Lion (B Grade)

Pros: Turns on. Upgraded to Sierra. Great upgrade from my wife's 2010 Core2 MacBook!

Cons: Definitely had some cosmetic issues. We bought a cheap case in my wife's favorite color, so she never has to look at it. I expect 'wear and tear' but not 'previously owned by a toddler'.

Overall Review: Wife and I waited for a super sale and got it under $260. I know that any refurbished product is like playing the lottery. I wish there was better quality control on the resale side. Battery life on ours is still excellent, but the other reviews saying they only get an hour unplugged are just as true. I'm comfortable replacing those kinds of things when this needs it. Good luck playing 'Refurbished Roulette'.
