Decent little PC

Foxconn nt-A3500-0h0WWAEQB AMD A45 (Hudson D1) White Mini / Booksize Barebone System
Foxconn nt-A3500-0h0WWAEQB AMD A45 (Hudson D1) White Mini / Booksize Barebone System

Pros: Great little box - as long as you understand it's limitations. It's an AMD E350 - so it's never going to be FAST. Very acceptable as a WMC - HTPC. Idles at 10W! Sleep functions work great with WMC remote without fooling around with too much in BIOS

Cons: It's an AMD E350. They are a bit slow. Magnetic feet have a tendency to fall off when bumped.

Overall Review: I like it a lot. The form factor is really cool - VESA mounts on the back of a monitor (although not on my HDTV - looks like the 32" tv takes a wider bolt spacing than the bracket comes with).

Good cheaper camera

Canon PowerShot A1100 IS Gray 12.1 MP 4X Optical Zoom Digital Camera
Canon PowerShot A1100 IS Gray 12.1 MP 4X Optical Zoom Digital Camera

Pros: Easy point and shoot camera.

Cons: Slightly blurry pictures inside when shooting moving subject.

Overall Review: I like the camera overall but think the picture quality inside isn't quite as good as my Canon S3 IS that is almost 4 years old. I assume it's because the flash range is shorter and the camera is just a bit of a lower end camera. Does take good pictures in most instances

Works as it's supposed to

Rosewill RC-212 VIA PCI SATA 1.5G / IDE ATA 133 Controller Card / Supports Raid 0, 1, 0+1, JBOD, non-RAID mode
Rosewill RC-212 VIA PCI SATA 1.5G / IDE ATA 133 Controller Card / Supports Raid 0, 1, 0+1, JBOD, non-RAID mode

Pros: Let me update an older Athlon XP1700 system for my 4 year old son. Drive speed went from 20 MB/s to 54 MB/s

Cons: none

Overall Review: Replaced an old 40gb IDE drive with a 160GB SATA (vintage 2006) and saw drive throughput speeds more than double. Applications load MUCH faster and the computer no longer drives me nuts. The 160GB is now the boot drive for the system and works fine. Used Easeus partition manager and cloned the drive in XP first before removing the IDE drive. Then booted to SATA drive and it worked fine.
