ATMOS FTW

Pioneer VSX-934 7.2-ch Network AV Receiver
Pioneer VSX-934 7.2-ch Network AV Receiver

Pros: Fantastic mid-range amp. No issues with ARC-CEC and true Atmos 5.1.2 from the TV (Vizio P Quantum X). Built in Apple Airplay works good, in Dolby VIsion as well but only stereo sound. However, Chromecast is limited to 720p SDR for some reason. No biggie. Built-in TIDAL app for true uncompressed FLAC streaming sounds incredible but the interface is burdensome. Sound itself is 80W RMS/Ch and only distorts when pushed very, very, very loud. Solid 4.5/5 stars.

Cons: As above

Overall Review: Can't beat the price for the newest formats.

SABRENT SND-P8CH 7.1 Channels 16/24bits 44.1k/48k/96KHz PCI Interface High-Performance Surround Sound
SABRENT SND-P8CH 7.1 Channels 16/24bits 44.1k/48k/96KHz PCI Interface High-Performance Surround Sound

Pros: cheap

Cons: doesnt work

Overall Review: Does not support Dolby Digital on the fly through S/PDIF optical (only through analog outputs). That means, only DVD's work with surround sound (DTS or Dolby) but not games! ARG!

Great

Intel Core i3-2105 - Core i3 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge Dual-Core 3.1 GHz LGA 1155 65W Intel HD Graphics 3000 Desktop Processor - BX80623I32105

Pros: Extremely snappy performance for HTPC. Flawless video playback in full HD.

Cons: Nada

Overall Review: I know this chip is way overkill for an HTPC, but I wanted something to load my videos fast, play them perfectly smooth, and be "future proof" if Windows 8 decides to take advantage of GPU acceleration--that's why I went HD3000 over 2000.

Very impressed

SONY Blue MDR-J10/BLUE 3.5mm Connector Vertical In-the-ear Clip Style Headphone (Blue)
SONY Blue MDR-J10/BLUE 3.5mm Connector Vertical In-the-ear Clip Style Headphone (Blue)

Pros: I'm one of those people that can't wear earbuds because they fall out, but I wanted the smallest possible headphones so I don't look like I'm wearing earmuffs in the gym. These fit pretty comfortably and stay put. The sound is very impressive for cheap earbuds, as good if not better than the ones that came with my ipod.

Cons: They tend to distort sooner at very high volume than some more expensive ones I've heard, but they get very loud and stay clear most of the way up. They also distort at medium-high volume if you turn the ipod EQ on.

Overall Review: These are perfect for me, and I consider myself an audiophile. Of course, they don't touch my Sennheisers!

awesome

DCLCD 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 12 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub DCL9C

Pros: Great monitor and cheap. I got it at Costco for a bit more but the security of no dead-pixel return policy.

Cons: There is slight ghosting in games, but very slight and doesn't affect gameplay. Speakers are useless

Overall Review: Overall a great LCD for the price.

XION II XON-103 Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply
XION II XON-103 Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply

Comments: Great case. Huge front fan sucks in the air, side and back funs rush it out, keeping everything cool. The large 120mm spin slow and quiet. Only problem is the fans dont have 3 pin mobo connectors to monitor rpms, so get cheap 4 to 3 pin adapters. The power supply is fine for my raid, 6800GS, and dual core processor.
