Quiet, reliable, solid mini ITX motherboard

Jetway JNF99FL-525-LF Fanless Intel Atom D525, 6*SATA2, Dual Intel GbLAN, Mini-ITX MB
Jetway JNF99FL-525-LF Fanless Intel Atom D525, 6*SATA2, Dual Intel GbLAN, Mini-ITX MB

Pros: - dual Intel gigabit LAN adapters - Jetway daughterboard expansion - ability to use MORE than 4 GB of RAM (with 64-bit OS) - plenty of SATA connections - fanless = quiet - lower power consumption (total system power via Kill-A-Watt meter is 55-64W) - solid core capacitors for reliable long term operation - straight forward BIOS settings

Cons: - SATA is 3 GB/s - had an issue with resuming from S3 sleep and high 30-35% CPU usage in Win 7 x64 SP1 - since resolved - cost/performance is low compared to other solutions

Overall Review: Purchased this motherboard for use as a Slimserver (read: Logitech) media server. I wanted a silent, extremely reliable, and power efficient setup. I am pleased with my purchase. This is my first Jetway branded motherboard - I have used almost all of the major brands previously. I am using a total of 8 GB of memory from Crucial (model #CT2KIT51264BC1339) and can report that all is working 100% even though the max memory capacity listed by Jetway is 4GB. I am running Windows 7 x64 SP1 with my system and I have quite aggressive power savings settings enabled. I did have an issue with this motherboard resuming from S3 sleep when a remote magic packet was used. Tracking this issue down was very time consuming, but ulitmately, a combination of firmware (A04_w) and updating driver's via the Intel website seemed to have solved it. Reliable, well constructed mini ITX motherboard

Jetway JNF99FL-525-LF Fanless Intel Atom D525, 6*SATA2, Dual Intel GbLAN, Mini-ITX MB

Pros: - dual Intel gigibit LAN ports - Jetway expansion card slot - can use MORE than 4 GB memory with 64-bit OS - power efficient, cool running - Raid capability - solid caps for long term reliability/stability - large number of SATA ports

Cons: - high cost for motherboard, let alone an Atom D525 based one - SATA ports only support 3 GB/s transfer rate - slight problem with high CPU consumption when resuming from S3 sleep - solved through trial and error with firmware (A04) and drivers

Overall Review: I purchased this motherboard for use as a Slimserver (read: Logitech) media server platform and I am not disappointed. I wanted extremely low power consumption. I am running Win 7 Pro x64 SP1 and can confirm that 8 GB of RAM is indeed usable although Jetway's website states that max RAM is 4 GB. I had some inital problems with remotely resuming my system from S3 sleep using magic packets - once it awoke, the CPU usage was 30-35% and therefore would be unable to return to sleep on it's own. After firmware A04 and some driver updates via Intel's website, it appears that this issue has been rectified. I like the inclusion of the dual Intel gigabit LAN ports and the ability to add additional ports via a Jetway daughter card. This will assist those who wish to use this motherboard as a fileserver. I am fully realize that more computing power can be purchased for the same or less cost, but the power consumption will suffer.
