Overall Review: The June CPU Microcode update from Microsoft kb3064209 will crash your windows installation. I installed windows about 3 times. This is the very last update to run and it is an optional update. Very hard to debug because the system runs fine the entire time installing and running updates. I was very much ready to just send this thing back to newegg as defective or RMA, Hope this review helps someone. I had to search high and dry and when I found another user with the same situation I knew it was not just me and not just the unit I was shipped. search 'kb3064209 ' + 'i3-4010U'

Pros: - Nice when it works

Cons: locks up all the time, only showing the side buttons being lit and device is useless until battery dies or until you force reset.

Overall Review: locks up at the weirdest times, when you hold buttons down too much, or swipe erratically (my 3 yr old nephew). I have a nexus one so I know what the experience is supposed to be like. This device I purchased for my girlfriend and some of the little ones running around and this device is NOT IDIOT PROOF

Pros: - runs ubuntu 18.04 LTS out of the box

Cons: - TN panel is subpar

Overall Review: I was specifically looking for a laptop that would run Ubuntu without much fuss. Has a single dimm slot which can be upgraded to 16GB. Windows 10 is on a 256GB nvme. Has an empty sata hdd slot where I installed a separate 240GB SSD and I dual boot Windows10/Ubuntu via picking UEFI partitions. Neither bootloader is aware of the other.

Pros: small form factor

Cons: MSI is not providing bios updates for Meltdown & Spectre and worse their customer support seems to be playing dumb. There is conjecture out there about beta BIOS updates being available if you contact customer support but that was also a dead end and more frustrating.

Overall Review: You lose brand loyalty by not supporting your products

Pros: - comes with a recovery partition - comes with software to make a bootable USB from the recovery partition - fans were clean (no dust) - required drivers were part of the recovery

Cons: - hdd drive cage was not installed correctly, drive went flying and tore loose from the sata/power connector

Overall Review: I panicked because there was no HDD detected when I first powered it on. The hdd drive cage was not clipped in place correctly and the cage shifted during shipping and tore free from the sata/power connector. There was no damage to the drive but this could have turned out bad.

Overall Review: Its a Great Board... I see some other reviews here of people having problems with them. I have owned 3x of them for approx 6 months now. The first one is my HTPC and I interact with it on a daily basis. The other two are NAS boxes. All 3 boards have been running 24/7 for 6 months with no issues.

I mention this was factory refurbished, the difference being that all the original hp software is on there as well as the original hp recovery partition. best part is the Create Recovery Media software was there allowing me to burn hard copies of the restore partition to 3 DVD's way better experience than a standard 3rd party refurbisher
