So far so good
Pros: Options for use Screen is outstanding. Keyboard is nice
Cons: Power button on side is problematic. Not a huge deal but easy to hit when changing from normal laptop to other configurations. So much bloatware one of which is proving quite difficult to get rid of. Has had a problem waking from hibernation. That may be a win 10 issue turning off hibernate seems to solve it but that does impact battery life.
Overall Review: For the price this thing exceeds my expectations. Just a fun machine to work with and the options to use it in different ways ads a lot of convenience. I would definitely buy this again
DOA
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Two boards in a row wont post.
Overall Review: Tried multiple power supplies, Different memory tried in case out of case everything and it just wont post no error beeps no nothing. I give! First and last asrock purchase I wont be buying again. I gave 1 star simply because New egg rocks! They had the second board in my hands in 24 hours.
First impression is it is average
Pros: Unit feels solid
Cons: No indicator lights on the front to tell if it is turned on. Can be a problem if you use the switch on the back to turn it off and on as you have to see the back of the charger to see the power indicator. Does not activate quick charge on Nexus 6p Or turbo charge on Moto z play.
Overall Review: Bottom line after not a lot of use yet. It is an average charger that will deliver a max of 2.4 amps enough for a lot of devices to quick charge but it will not work for the newer fast charging tech as it does not provide enough power. For old devices It is great but anything on the newer end will not charge to its full potential. My fault I did not pay enough attention to the specs before purchasing and just looked at the slogans. If you don't actually require the newer faster charging portions for your device this is probably a good buy .
Careful who you buy this from
Pros: Lots of storage. Rugged waterproof casing.
Cons: Key chain loop on wrong side of unit forcing you to either take it off your key chain or subject the USB stick to the weight of your keys if you keep it on a key chain like I do. Worked a few times then started failing. Corsair will not honor the Warranty unless it is purchased from an authorized dealer. Some of the Vendors on New egg are not authorized dealers.
Overall Review: This is my third survivor in about 12 years. The first was a 4 gig that had the key chain loop on the opposite side. I loved that one. 4 gigs got to be too small for my needs so I upgraded to a 16 gig one that has lasted at least 6 years now. I was disappointed they moved the key chain loop to the other side where it now is attached to the USB stick instead of just the cap. The first one I had was much better since you could just unscrew it and it was free of the key ring. In years of use of my 16 gig i have never had it unscrew in my pocket so I am not sure why they made this change. It puts a lot of stress on the unit and the port you have it plugged into if your keys are hanging from it. I really wish they would go back to the original design. The 16 gig version is banged up pretty bad 6 years later but still works flawlessly. Despite having keys hanging from it when it was in use the stick is still fully intact if a bit wobbly at the joints. This one I have only had a few months and while it worked well at first it Identified itself as a memory bar which I found odd. but it did work so I thought nothing more of it. However at this point it is just borked. Sometimes it identifies correctly sometimes it just fails. sometimes it will work for a bit then fail When it does work it will often show as two drives but only appear as one in Disk manager. After 6 years of abuse with the other and flawless performance I was surprised by the quick failure of this one. Be careful who you buy this from. I got this through New egg but from one of their re sellers called limited goods. When I purchased this it came with a 5 year manufacturers warranty supposedly just as it does as of this writing. Today when I tried to get an RMA on it Corsair said they will not replace it because the seller was not an authorized dealer and i would have to go to the seller to get it replaced. When i spoke to limited goods who is apparently now named My goods they said it was outside of the 30 day window and they would not replace it either. Last resort I went to New Egg. I have been a customer of New eggs for over a decade and they have never let me down, Customer service at New egg did say they could not replace it for me either but that they would contact both the seller and the manufacturer for me. Who knows what will come of it at this point but I do appreciate the effort from at least one of the links in the chain. I am still irked that corsair would not cover it even more so because that 5 year warranty is still there if you were to buy this item as of today. I am also Irked at the seller for refusing to replace it when they sold it with that imp-lied 5 year warranty even though they knew it would not be honored. It remains to be seen what remedy New egg comes up with but I am crossing my fingers. If you got this far TLDR Buy only from new egg directly don't use a re seller Warranty may not be honored otherwise, This one started failing on me inside of 8 months despite very sparse use.
Decent case ...Bad fan
Pros: For the money its a decent little case. Not going to go into everything cause others have said it .
Cons: Case fan is very noisy. Going to have to replace it. Not a big deal but an extra trip to the store before I can deliver it to the person I am building it for.
Overall Review: If you are buying this case get a different case fan.
No 8 pin connector
Pros: Sweet board booted right up drivers dropped right in. Havent had a lot of chance to run stuff on it yet but its gigabyte i assume its solid. Been using their boards for years. Only one thing bugs me and thats the 8 pin ATX connector. My power suply doesnt have one! Its still booted right up using the four pin on the bottom half of the board connector, would have been a nice touch to throw in an adapter. Havent been able to try to unlock the cores yet on the black editon I bought with it as it wont post when acc is on. I figure the adapter will make the difference but I am chomping at the bit to try it and havent had a chance to get to the local shop yet.
Cons: Just the fact there was no adapter
Overall Review: Price was right I got this with a black edition x2550 phenom and 4 gigs of gskill for $225 Gotta love new egg!
