Out with the old

Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Upgrade
Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Upgrade

Pros: The OS is very fast. I migrated to a solid state drive (SSD for those who don't know) a half a year back with windows 7. OS boot time was around 14-16 sec, but with windows 8, it is about 6 seconds. This was also BY FAR the easiest OS to install. I have 3 roommates, and a total of 10 computers in my living space. I have helped reformat or install a new OS on 8 of these machines (windows 7 home, pro, ultimate, and windows 8 pro). Windows 8 was the easiest. The only driver I needed after a clean install was to make my front head phone jack work, otherwise it was all done by itself, no other drivers were manually installed! The instillation AND customization took under 45 minutes. The metro UI is very customizable. It comes pre-loaded with many apps, some I found usefull, others I dind't want. I could either uninstall by right-clicking and selecting "uninstall" or i could just remove it from the start menu. This made it very easy to put EXACTLY what I wanted to see when I hit the start menu. On another note, all of my games and software are compatible. (League of Legends, SCII wol, SCII hots beta, BF3, Assassins Creed 2, all Crysis versions, MATLAB 2012, MS Office Pro 2010, Dropbox, Adobe, my HP OfficeJet network printer...etc.). My programs load quicker, and in games there is a slight fps improvement (usually 2-5 fps depending on game). Account syncing is awesome. I have several email accounts that I want to keep seperate. The email app on the metro UI allows me to sync all my emails to the app, so I am notified by the app when I get an email from any one of my accounts. I can turn on or off the sync to any account individually too in case I didn't want to be notified. Very easy to set up. There are many other cool and useful features. Take a look at a "how to use windows 8" youtube tutorial to learn the new features. The rest is just like windows 7 and will be familiar to you.

Cons: Its new. There is a learning curve (albeit VERY small in my opinion). It takes two clicks to get to the shutdown button vs one click on windows 7 (but I don't use this, I use the physical button on my PC, works like a charm). I had more complaints when I started using W8 my first week, but it was just me getting use to the new features. Nothing bothers me at all with windows 8.

Overall Review: Worth it, don't upgrade to anything else but Windows 8. Spend 20 min watching a HELPFUL youtube video about using the new features, practice a bit and your done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi8NpwiEuzc

Good

Syma S107 Gyro Metal 3 CH Helicopter Yellow
Syma S107 Gyro Metal 3 CH Helicopter Yellow

Pros: Excellent control, the trim knob works like a charm as long as you make sure you arent moving before you set it, the trim will also need minor adjustments to compensate for diff battery levels, but thats such a pain I don't both obviously, since the battery life is so short. Flys steady and is responsive to directional control Within a house I could control it from at least 10-15ft away, I never got it out of range of the controller in my parents large house.

Cons: Short battery life, but thats what you get with such a helicopter, its a matter of physcics. (bigger, heavier battery=faster draining, smaller, lighter battery = less charge)

Overall Review: Regardless of the battery issue, 5 eggs for a good product at a good price. I would recommend this.
