Easy to use

Rosewill HDTV Antenna, Indoor TV Antenna Range up to 60 Miles with Amplifier Signal Booster, High Performance Coaxial Cable, 4K and ATSC3.0 Ready, RHTA-18002

Pros: Pulls in many over the air channels clearer than our old "TV Free Way". Doesn't need to be adjusted for different channels. Comes with a power injector if you don't have a free USB port.

Cons: Cords are a little long, nothing a couple of zip ties can't fix.

Overall Review: I like the way it sits on our 55" LG thin TV (Very inconspicuous). No issues with receiving channels and actually get a couple more than with our old rabbit ear setup.

Samsung BDJ6300 Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi
Samsung BDJ6300 Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi

Pros: This was to replace an older Sony unit. It is primarily used for streaming and is much faster than the old one. Menus don't hang and when you push a button on the remote the player reacts almost instantly.

Cons: The first unit would randomly reset in the middle of movies or while streaming so newegg was great and sent a replacement. The second unit only locks up and resets occasionally while streaming (probably a memory issue). I expected better quality from 2 of the top brands of electronics but I guess quality isn't a thing anymore. I personally like the Sony menu better.

Definitely the new CPU to beat

Pros: I am coming from a 9900k and let me tell you, this thing really outperforms everything else. It is installed in a MSI MPG Z690 CARBON WIFI DDR5 board and everything is snappier, from the boot time to navigating menus the whole system just feels better. It is paired with MSI 3080Ti gaming x trio and all my games have zero input lag now.

Cons: This thing runs really hot under a full synthetic load. make sure you have a current BIOS update before stress tests or benchmarks. My stock BIOS didn't have the proper voltage or power limits and almost cooked this thing under load. (According to HWmonitor almost 500 watts at the socket.) Updated the BIOS and all is well but can still hit 100C even with 360mm AIO cooler. While under normal load it never gets above 60C, only during stress testing does it get super hot. All testing done in an open case FYI.

Overall Review: I was hesitant to spend the money on a current generation upgrade the way prices are right now but am very happy with my purchase. MSI MPG Z690 CARBON WIFI DDR5 LGA 1700 Intel Z690 SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Excellent, stable power delivery. Easy to understand manual. Worked without a hitch on first boot. (Almost, see cons) MSI Center software is excellent 5 m.2 slots

Cons: This board shipped with the first bios rev. from Sept. and almost cooked the CPU. It had no limits on the voltages and pulled almost 600 watts in the first round of Cinebench (12900k). Updated the bios and all was well. CPU power connectors sit in a hole and are really difficult to seat after the board is installed.

Overall Review: Overall a good motherboard, fit and finish was excellent and all accessories and adapers for RGB came in the box along with stickers and case badges. One thing I would add to the manual is a registration page at the beginning to log serial# and check code for registration. Nothing is more frustrating that getting the build done and realizing you need a number off the board for registration. I can't comment on WIFI since I am using a wired connection.

Failed after 9 months

Intel Core i9 9th Gen - Core i9-9900K Coffee Lake 8-Core, 16-Thread, 3.6 GHz (5.0 GHz Turbo) LGA 1151 (300 Series) 95W BX806849900K Desktop Processor Intel UHD Graphics 630

Pros: Still holds in own in modern titles. Decent for multithreaded workloads, not as good as modern Ryzen.

Cons: Always ran super hot and never turboed. Burned itself out after 9 months.

Overall Review: I had a 9700K OC to 5.2 on Noctua dh-15 Chromax with no issues. I needed more threads for streaming so put in a 9900k. Always had random BSOD and almost never ran over the base clock so I put an all core OC to 4.7. Temps initially never ran over 80C then started spiking to over 100C! Removed the OC and things never got better. Swapped MB, reloaded OS, still Bsod. swapped the 9700k back in and no problems. After contacting Intel for a replacement they proceeded to tell me I voided the warranty by overclocking it. After brow beating them for almost 2 weeks about their marketing and advertising the "k" models as unlocked for more performance and headroom they agreed to replacement. Still I lost almost 6 weeks of use of my computer plus troubleshooting time. (After all, how often does a CPU fail.) Buyer beware, these chips are getting hard to find and my replacement is a Chinese market rebox, they may not be available for replacement if you get a bad one.

OK mouse for those with a light touch

EVGA X17 Gaming Mouse, Wired, Grey, Customizable, 16,000 DPI, 5 Profiles, 10 Buttons, Ergonomic 903-W1-17GR-KR
EVGA X17 Gaming Mouse, Wired, Grey, Customizable, 16,000 DPI, 5 Profiles, 10 Buttons, Ergonomic 903-W1-17GR-KR

Pros: Lots of profile options, the software is pretty good, comfortable grip.

Cons: I am pretty heavy handed and find myself clicking things when I don't mean to. There is not a lot of resistance to any of the buttons (scroll wheel in particular) and I can't feel the click some times. Not a good product for me but I'm sure others won't have a problem. Update: The scroll wheel texture is awful, it has no grip for those with callouses, definitely prefer something with ribs like the G502.

Overall Review: I am a mechanic by trade and have lost some of the sensitivity in my hands making this mouse not a good fit. I got it in a bundle so wanted to try something new but I will be going back to Logitech.
