very nice monitor

Acer X243Wbd Black 24" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 3000:1 ACM with HDCP support
Acer X243Wbd Black 24" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 3000:1 ACM with HDCP support

Pros: Very nice, bright and big monitor. Swapping out with my old monitor was a piece of cake and it fired right up. It actually fits onto my crowded desktop better than I thought it would. Looks great, no noticable defects or bad pixels in a basic monitor package. I downloaded the driver from acerpanam.com which comes with the color profile too. No noticable difference between the Acer and XP drivers, but I use Photoshop a lot and the color profiles help.

Cons: The on-screen menu system takes a little getting used to and the color shifts ever so slightly when you move to the outside angles. To be fair, color shifting is expected of an LCD monitor. Swapping between DVI/VGA inputs requires navigating the menu vs. a pushbutton.

Overall Review: I have two computers, a desktop using DVI and a laptop hooked in through the VGA port. The VGA input is full resolution and looks better than my old high res Dell LCD's VGA input. There were some cheaper LCD screens this size on sale, but I'm glad I went with this monitor for the imaging work I do.

Most Critical Review
Nippon Labs USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA HDD Adapter w/ Power Model USB-SATA
Nippon Labs USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA HDD Adapter w/ Power Model USB-SATA

Pros: Works well enough if used correctly.

Cons: This solution involves a lot of cables. The power adapter's IDE plug is very soft and lets you plug into the drive reversed which promptly burns out the PCB board. Use a hard plastic power extension that won't let you plug things in backwards to protect yourself.

Overall Review: Seems like there should be a solution that pulls power from the USB port.

Disaster in the making

ORICO 5 Bay USB 3.0 to SATA Raid External Hard Drive Enclosure Support 80TB for 2.5/3.5 inch HDD SSD Multi-Bay Aluminum Hard Drive Case for Enterprise Data Storage With Raid, Sliver
ORICO 5 Bay USB 3.0 to SATA Raid External Hard Drive Enclosure Support 80TB for 2.5/3.5 inch HDD SSD Multi-Bay Aluminum Hard Drive Case for Enterprise Data Storage With Raid, Sliver

Pros: Simple setup, simple software, turns out it doesn't do much to help.

Cons: Fails like crazy. I have gone through 10 drives and this still fails. There is an incessant beeping when drives drop in and out of the array. The drives seems to drop out and back as the drives overheat. If two drives drop out then you lost all your data as that breaks the RAID array. The "RAID Manager" only has tools to notify you when something breaks. There is nothing to help create, expand or recover the array so the term "Manager" is really only an "Monitor".

Overall Review: I have lost 4 months of photography data using this product and wasted hundreds of dollars on replacement drives.
