Excellent Board

ASUS Rampage II Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Rampage II Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Used this board and the i7 Extreme to replace my Intel DX38BT and Q9550 Quad Core. The RAID setup is basically the same between both boards and I didn't have to do anything for my Raid0 to be picked up by the Rampage II. Vista Ultimate x64 booted up fine first try; just had to install the new drivers for the board otherwise.

Cons: A bit expensive but if you want a solid board the cash outlay is more than worth it.

Overall Review: After avoiding Asus for 10+ years I am officially a believer again.

Amazing television

LG 55" 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV
LG 55" 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV

Pros: Amazing picture quality. Been playing Mass Effect 2 on it and it looks like I'm watching something live. Lots of inputs for all of my electronics...I'm also using this as my PC monitor. Got this TV on sale for $1600...noticed a few days after I got it that the price went back up to $2400....Hell of a good deal and free shipping. A couple of places actually sell some stuff cheaper than Newegg but they don't offer free shipping so in the end you pay more going elsewhere.

Cons: Shipping got it to me ultra fast, but they brought it in on a Semi trailer--no way he could get in my driveway. Had to have him park at a local hotel while I went home to get my truck. Not a huge enough deal to dock an egg but you may want to make arrangements if your house is inaccessible to semi trucks.

Overall Review: The sale price of this TV and free shipping were impossible to say no to.

Unreasonable price

HyperX 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) XMP Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX
HyperX 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) XMP Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX

Pros: Kingston's known for good RAM and I'm sure this set is no exception.

Cons: No way am I buying even one kit for $1,200 and I'd need two kits to max out my motherboard. Hell, one kit costs more than what I paid for BOTH of my GTX 295 video cards.

Overall Review: Like probably everyone else who knows this RAM is out, I will be waiting for the price to come down by at least $600 per kit before I'll even think about taking the plunge. Even $600 per kit is painfully high for RAM.

Rebate Update

Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Already commented on the drive way back when I bought it, they work fine. The five eggs are for the drives.

Cons: The rebate was excrutiatingly slow, but I did receive it. Purchased the drives near the end of February and sent the rebates. Received the rebates by the first full week of July. Check was already sixty days old when I received it but it cleared fine. Contacting the rebate center for a status was like getting teeth pulled with no painkiller.

Overall Review: Based on the horror stories I've read here, I count myself lucky to have received the rebates at all. Do yourself a favor and buy assuming you won't receive them, but send them off anyway. If you lose, you're only out a stamp.

Works fantastic

Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition - Core i7 Extreme Edition Bloomfield Quad-Core 3.33 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80601975
Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition - Core i7 Extreme Edition Bloomfield Quad-Core 3.33 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80601975

Pros: Easy installation, runs fine with stock fan (I know many people say the stock fan sucks, and maybe it does but I ran the original Core i7 Extreme for over three months with no problems on stock fan). I don't overclock; if I did a better cooling system would be extremely advisable.

Cons: Price. Intel really rakes you over the coals on cost but if gaming is your vice, go for it. Stock fan is probably not going to cut it if you desire to overclock. For the money we put into the chip you'd think they'd throw in a better one.

Overall Review: For gaming I'd say currently you can do no better at this point in time.

Excellent CPU

Intel Core i7-965 Extreme Edition - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80601965
Intel Core i7-965 Extreme Edition - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80601965

Pros: This chip screams when paired with the Rampage II Extreme motherboard. Running at stock speed with factory heatsink/fan and have had zero problems.

Cons: Extremely expensive but if you have the cash you cannot do wrong by this CPU.

Overall Review: Well worth the cost if gaming's your vice.
