GOOD FOR GAMING

SAMSUNG 19" a-si TFT-LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub, DVI-D 940b-BK
SAMSUNG 19" a-si TFT-LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 8 ms 1280 x 1024 D-Sub, DVI-D 940b-BK

Pros: I just converted from long-time CRT use to this LCD. I went from a viewsonic P95F, which is excellent for gaming, to the Samsung 940B. My initial impression was disappointment, becuase everything appeared washed out and videos, pictures, and games looked horrible. I did not find Samsung's software very intuitive in adjusting the color, although once I configured the colors through Natural Color and raised the red, blue and green to around 1.5 everything fell into place. The monitor is bright, clear, and vibrant. DVD's look amazing, and most importantly, there are no dead pixels, and no ghosting in BF2, F.E.A.R., or Call of Duty 2. I am very pleased with the monitor, and although Newegg would not honor a price drop that occurred before they shipped it, the delivery was faster than expected.

Cons: Samsung's software is not so hot, although admittedly I am not too experienced with LCD's. The stand is not height adjustable, and does not rotate. NO DVI CABLE. So, order one with your monitor. (cheap at least)

Overall Review: Everything seems more vibrant and alive with the LCD, so I am pretty happy with it.

EXCELLENT VALUE

XFX PV-T71G-UDP7 GeForce 7900GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card
XFX PV-T71G-UDP7 GeForce 7900GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card

Pros: This card is actually clocked higher than the evga superclocked 7900 GT, and is XFX's second fasted 7900GT. I replaced my x800Xt in a Dell XPS 3 and the card runs Oblivion at 1280 with high settings quite well. No crashes, no problems, which is greta because I was worried if the XPS 3's stock 460 watt PSU could handle the increased load, although this card only requires a 400 watt PSU. It runs fast and quite.

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: The EVGA 7900Gt's have been known to create problems in Dell systems, so I went with the XFX. I have been very happy thus far.

OUTSTANDING FOR GAMES AND MUSIC

Comments: The bass-effect is excellent for FPS games, and is exactly what I have been looking for for a long time. I bought three more pairs after getting my first pair because I thought at that price, they likely wouldn't last long. I was wrong - it's been 8 months and my first pair is still fine. The quality construction is great.
