After a flaky start works just fine
Pros: Works like a charm as a redundant JBOD. Serves my purpose as a storage dump for my tv archives just fine for now.
Cons: Basically the speed of a single hard drive over a USB enclosure. Not for use if you are looking for speed. Doesn't actually use NTFS/HFS as far as i can tell on the actual drives otherwise they'd be viewable outside the enclosure, basically just determines the compatibility layer for the USB Mass storage device driver probably.
Overall Review: One of the most innovative products I've seen in a while. Takes the pain out of redundant storage in my opinion. A network connection/samba support/other interface that provided a file system agnostic interface, so it could be used in linux would be nice.
Bought two..Recieved 1 that worked
Pros: 1 works
Cons: 1 didn't
Overall Review: Bought 2 of these drives. One arrived DOA or died within a couple of days. In the process of RMAing
Just what I wanted
Pros: Works perfectly. Switching between computers is fast, about half a second.
Cons: Not DVI, but that's my choice since I pruchased the lower priced version. Need to make sure you plug the keyboard into the correct usb port on the kvm switch. You will still be able to type if you plug into the mouse usb port, but the hot key to switch consoles won't work. Took me about 15 minutes to figure that out.
Overall Review: Have a linux atom box, a quad core win xp box and 2.4 northwood xp box connected to it. And my corporate labtop when I work from home. Haven't attached the quad core or labtop to it yet (mainly cause i haven't built it or had to work from home)
Amazing
Pros: Much faster than PCMCIA card
Cons: Compactflash cards stick out a bit from the express card slot
Overall Review: Great purchase, used with my companies proprietary software which basically reformats the compactflash everytime. Went from 8min 30secs and computer dragging to a halt on my PCMCIA burner to 1min 30secs and a completely useable computer. Recommend it as an upgrade over any PCMCIA card.
Fits the bill
Pros: Easy to setup: just plug into the wall and they connect to each other. If you want to encrypt it, a little extra setup is required (i haven't done it though). Only takes up one outlet: From the picture it's hard to tell how it plugs in, but it plugs into on outlet and leaves enough room to plug a standard size plug into. Speed: The applet that comes with them has reported speeds between 77 Mbps and 111Mbps. Haven't done any real world speed tests, but am easily able to stream video from desktop to Xbox while also downloading more videos
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: A little pricey, but worth it.
Works like a charm
Pros: Works fine. Simple operation. Tested on everything but IDE drive. Helped my diagnose a bad samsung drive I had just purchased and copy data off a dead labtops hard drive. Paid for itself in terms of time saved already.
Cons: No included documentation. Have to download from the web the proper connections for the three types. Would have maybe fried a 2.5" drive if I hadn't read the documentation.
Overall Review: Simple packaging, which is reuseable for storage. Great formfactor, don't need an enclosure if I just have to recover data for 30 minutes.
