Pros: It’s 1080p and 144hz. Coming from a 60hz ASUS this thing is great. It makes all of the games I play look really good and buttery smooth. Also, I got it on sale on Black Friday for 160 shipped. Came with a DisplayPort cable which is great. I was worried it wouldn’t come with one or only would come with an hdmi.
Cons: There is a small streak or something that looks like a small comet of gray pixels in the upper left corner of the screen. I’m not sure if it’s dead or stuck pixels But looks like it could be a mark on the underside of the screen film or whatever the term is for it. They still seem to change colors but it’s kinda distorted in that area. The length is maybe 1cm and maybe as wide as a pencil lead. It’s not worth it to try to RMA as it doesn’t really bother me.
Only other con is the interface to adjust the picture. It’s not bad just takes some getting used to. I definitely had to adjust it to get in looking good. Going through the other settings is kinda awkward.
Overall Review: Being a TN panel I knew I would have to mess with it some to make it look right. The monitor is kinda bright. I didn’t change the brightness but I did lower the black or blue level setting. It’s one of their presets in there. It was at 5 I lowered it to 2 and it looks better. I play mostly at night with a nightstand lamp on next to my bed. My wife hasn’t complained about it being bright. COD BO4, BF1 and 5 and overwatch all look great on it.
All in all I’m very happy with this monitor and for the price you really can’t beat it. I’m pushing it using a gtx 1060 6gb.
Pros: Opened it up, read the instructions, plugged it and hit the wps button on my router and the button on the tp link waited maybe a minute and it was done. Easy as anything.
Overall Review: I got this to get better wifi in my garage since it was a little spotty out there since my router is in my bedroom across the house. This thing did exactly what I wanted it to do. Setup was a breeze.
Newegg came through on their shipping speed yet again. Ordered about noon and arrived the next day at 3. Doesn't get any better.
Pros: Runs great. I've overclocked it up to 2100 even though I didn't need to. But I just run it stock and it still goes up to 1949mhz. I game at 1080p so this card is kind of overkill. I came from an R9-270x so this was a great upgrade.
Cons: Only con is that it runs kind of hot. Temps have gotten up to 67c. I know that's not bad for the card but coming from a card that ran mid 50's for a couple summers it's a little change.
Overall Review: This card is awesome. I'm happy with my purchase. People are complaining about no SLI. Doesn't matter to me. I replaced the thermal paste on the card to see if it would help with temps. Used arctic silver 5. Made no difference. At least I know what it has and it's applied correctly.
Runs Rainbow Six: siege, overwatch, battlefield 4 and battlefield 1 beta all on ultra. The GeForce experience is really cool to optimize your games for you. This is my first nvidia card since my 9500gt. I'm not a fanboy of either brand. I'm a fanboy of bang for the buck and this is it.
Pros: I upgraded from an R9 270x that was running rainbow six siege on medium and 50-60 fps now I run it on max and and lowest I've seen is about 81 fps when playing. In the menus in siege the fps stays at 60 fps but goes up once a match begins. Must be part of the nvidia optimized thing. This is my first nvidia card since I had a 9500gt. I also play overwatch on epic settings and seen about 130 something fps.
Cons: The only con I can say as this card runs warmer than my last. The hottest I've seen it get is 67c. I know that's not bad thermal wise but when my last card got up to only 56c it's a bit of a change.
Overall Review: Overall this card is great minus the heat difference from my last. This thing should last me a long time. I've never been a fanboy if either brand just seemed to end up with AMD the past couple times. Can't wait for battlefield 1 to see how it does.
Just wanna give newegg some props for their shipping speed. I ordered this Wednesday night about 830pm and received it Friday. Of course I'm only about 3 hours away from their shipping facility.
Pros: The razer synapse program lets you customize the colors and dpi and sensitivity. The colors look cool. I bought to see if I get better accuracy in games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and 3. It helped out somewhat. I really like the side buttons for melee attacks as well as just everyday web browsing.
Cons: none yet
Overall Review: I've read about the reliability and longevity of these mice. So i'll see how long this lasts. Hopefully its lasts as long or longer than my Logitech M110 $15 mouse :P
Pros: Great motherboard with a decent bios setup. Bios is easy to navigate, has plenty of options and is overall easy to use. This motherboard does not feel any more beefy or flimsy than the Gigabyte UD3 that I had before switching to intel. Has plenty of outputs for whatever your heart desires.
Cons: Only after I overclocked my i5-3570k to 4.4ghz The bios would freeze every so often. now that I have the cpu dialed in and stable though I dont mess with it hardly.
Overall Review: Besides the little bios thing this is a great motherboard to have. I will definitely go with AsRock again when it comes time to upgrade to bigger and better things.
Pros: This games pretty fun. Play the starter edition if you aren't sure you want to play it or not. The quest lines are fun and you can explore around and find mini dungeons and bosses.
Cons: Everything on the auction house is way expensive. Good thing you don't have to shop on there to survive. Oh well, come march the auction house is going bye bye anyway.
Overall Review: I never played the other diablo games. So you take or leave my opinion. I played WOW for about 7 years and finally gave it up. Family was more important but I still wanted something to play occasionally. People say it has no replay ability. Don't sit on it for 24 hours straight and you won't get burned out in it. An expansion is coming soon too so that should be interesting.
Pros: This cooler is great quality. The instructions were very easy to understand though I didnt use them that much. I could have had a novice install it they were that good. The whole thing is packaged very well. From the oversized box to the individual bags for AMD and Intel as well as the "common parts" bag. The best thing of course is how well this thing cools. If you are debating getting this, just make sure it fits and just get it. It was on sale when I bought it but it's possibly worth full price.
Cons: none whatsoever
Overall Review: I went from a Hyper 212+ with push/pull with arctic silver 5 on a delidded 3570k. Replaced the die TIM with the noctua and used it on the heatsink as well.
I5-3570k @4.4ghz 1.192v
Temps with the 212+ were: Ambient temp of 25c
Core 0: 70c
Core 1: 75c
Core 2: 76c
Core 3: 72c
All using intel burn test standard.
After the NH-D14 with same settings and ambient of 26c:
Core 0 58c
Core 1: 63c
Core 2: 63c
Core 3: 62c
This heatsink has now made that scary delidding job so much more worthwhile.
I5-3570k @ 4.4ghz 1.192v
AsRock extreme4 z77
G.skill ripjaws X (2x4gb) Which fit under the NH-D14.
Sapphire HD 6850
Toshiba 500gb HDD
Asus CD/DVD burner
All in a Cooler Master HAF 922
Pros: Easy to apply and yields good temps. Doesn't dry out from what I know.
Cons: None really
Overall Review: A lot of people use this obviously by the reviews. I used it on my delidded 3570k and temps dropped by about 15c under load. Thy have slowly climbed back up. This is a good basic TIM. I'll probably switch to coolabs liquid ultra for my die/IHS and use the nt-h1 that the noctua comes with for the heatsink. Thus stuff is good but a little outdated as there is better stuff out there.
Pros: figured i would try out the push pull setup and for 10 bucks you dont have much to lose if you dont get much temp change.
Overall Review: This is a direct replacement / pairing for the 212+ fan not the evo fan. The evo's run a max of 82.9 cfm where as these run 76.8 +-10% not much difference but if you want to match cfm's this is probably close enough.
As for my results of push pull. I got between 1 and 3 degrees cooler on all the cores. Some cores were 1 some were 3. not much but as i said for the price its good enough.
Pros: used this with a CM blade-master for a push/pull on a hyper 212+ has sleeves over the cables for some protection and looks. doesn't feel flimsy or weak.
Cons: none so far
Overall Review: Good for use on push pulls if you want both fans to use PWM and only have one header. I have 2 cpu fan headers but one is 3 pin and 1 is 4 pin. so this came in handy. One of the inputs has a pin missing that is the signal pin so it doesnt conflict and confuse your mobo.
Pros: big spacious case. lots of room for whatever you have. the cable management is pretty good. A thing that stood out to me when I got this was the I/O pci ports. if thats what you call them.. Each one has a piece of metal thats held in by a thumb screw. No more breaking out the pieces and tossing them. Really handy if you mess up and take out the wrong ones. The fans are also really quiet for their size. I run them full speed and they are very tolerable. My old case had a Scythe ultra kaze, so these are nothing.
Cons: none that i can think of right now
Overall Review: I had a CM Elite 310 and compared to this the elite was really small. I saw the measurements but to actually see the case in person puts it in perspective. Make sure you have the room for this thing. All in all this case is great. I was torn between this and the storm scout, but chose this for the fans and it can also take a h100 or similar water cooler if I so choose. I'm not sure the scout can or not.
Pros: Good size. Cable management is good. Lots of drive bays for whatever you have. The fans move a good amount of air.
Cons: The side panel holes for the thumb screws were barely off making it hard to screw or unscrew them off. I was afraid of cross threading them. The hard drive trays are nice but kind of a pain to line up the pins right to hold it in. The backplate access hole doesn't line up with my AsRock extreme 4 z77. Not sure if its just the board or the case.
Overall Review: This is a nice case. Made my CM elite 310 look really small. The cons I listed are not that bad and not worth docking an egg for. Anyone that needs a good quiet case with lots is space and good cable management this ones for you.
Pros: got free with a gigabyte 990fx ud3
Overall Review: the gigabyte board was a PIECE that i ended up selling. This ram was the only pro to getting the board
Pros: Lots of ports and connections and what not.
Cons: **I also had the same sleep state issues that others have had. Would hit "start"> sleep and sometimes it would just turn off the display and everything else would be on. (Case fan, HSF, etc..) But sometimes it would completely power down and when it did that it would not come back up and had to hit the power button to reset.
**My second and bigger issue was my AMD 955BE. I would overclock it and only 1 core would be at the correct speed(3.8) the rest would be at 3.2. Gigabyte's horrible support argued with me for a month or so only to get a beta BIOS from them that solved nothing and then they blamed my 955 that worked fine on the previous board.
** I bought an AMD 8350 which I wanted to eventually just not so soon. WIth all the BIOS options for power saving turned off the 8350 would throttle down to 3.4. Come to find out I needed AMD Overdrive to turn off another feature that the BIOS didnt support. Also running OCCT, the voltages were all over the place. There was no way that I would have ever got a stable overclock out of it like that.
Overall Review: Between the bad service, the sleep issues and the voltages and lack of BIOS support, I sold it on e bay. I also RMA'd the 8350 for a new one and sold it too. Now I have an i5-3570k and an AsRock extreme4 that is way better than this junk. Have the 3570k at 4.4@ 1.2v and never get over 60c with a 212+.
I wont ever use gigabyte again and it will be very hard for me to go back to AMD as well.
Pros: Keeps my temps low I suppose.
Overall Review: I have nothing to compare this to as the CPU i used it on was new. <60c on an i5 3570 oc'd to 4.2 with a hyper 212+.
Pros: Everything happens with a quickness more so than with my phenom 2 x4 955. Low temps at stock speed using a hyper 212+. idles 18-20 and highest while gamong was 33c. It got up to 46c while doing the WEI score. I'm still in vista so everything is pegged at 5.9 anyways.
Cons: none as of yet.
Overall Review: Just having everything at stock speed it was running at 4.1 I have yet to overclock but we'll see how high this baby will go. Im amazed at the temps so far. my previous proc was idle 36c and max 45c so i think im doing just fine. If intel is better than this than they must make absolute awesome stuff. I dont see how it can get better than this.
Pros: This is pretty good. especially for the price and also a rebate at the time of purchase. Zero dead pixels.
Cons: May just be me, but it seems kinda blurry at some points the I change my viewing position and its clear again.
Overall Review: Theres a reason theres so many good reviews on this. Its a great deal and you wont be disappointed
Pros: its a cheap cable that works fine.
Overall Review: Why pay 20 bucks for one at other stores when you can get this.
Pros: Nice picture. Great price. The buttons in the front were kinda confusing at first until I read the directions. Required no setting adjustments other than changing the scaling in catalyst so it fit the whole screen. There's a reason this has so many good reviews.
Overall Review: Overall a great monitor. Asus seems to make pretty good stuff anyway. From monitors to cd drives to mobis I don't think you can go wrong.
Pros: basic cd/dvd drive
Pros: These are a great set if speakers! I plugged them in and had great sound with no hassle.
Cons: The only complaint some people may have is there is no adjustment for the bass volume. Depending on your placement of the subwoofer this might be an issue. For me however this wasnt a problem.
Overall Review: I replaced a 4 year old set of logitech speakers and the only thing wrong with those was the "puck" style control started to short the left speaker at higher volumes. (1/2 to full volume). I got these cheaper than the Newegg price but would gladly have paid their price for them.
Pros: If you want something with good sound and don't want to break the bank go for these. I have them in my wife's computer and she is satisfied as well.
Overall Review: Don't be an idiot and put the sub on your desk. It goes on the floor. It's not that big just boxy. It's maybe 6x7x4. If you can't squeeze that in then something is wrong with where your desk/room or wherever your comp is.
Pros: These things blast really well. I just use them for casual gaming. I sometimes play music through them.
Cons: I've owned them for over 2 years and ever since I've had them that i can remember the remote makes the left speaker cut out. If I apply pressure to the remote it will come back on. There is obviously a short somewhere.
Overall Review: These speakers are pretty decent especially for the price. Don't be mad if you get duds as you get what you pay for. I would buy them again.
Pros: The video card is pretty good for the price. Plays games nicely. Gets good fps in Swtor on moderate settings. Got great fps in wow when I still played that.
Cons: First one burned up after 3 months of casual use.
Overall Review: Hopefully this one is better. RMA went smoother than expected. Had a replacement in 7 days. I would still rather have an Nvidia 550ti or 560, or better.
AMD 955 @ 3.6 ghz
Asus M3a76 mobo
