OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Rock solid and stable 24/7 for a media server.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Ordered this in Feb '09 to replace a failed PSU in a media server with 7 harddrives. It has been rock solid. It feeds 4 SATA and 3 IDE drives as well as the basic system. It was on sale, with a rebate, and free shipping - excellent deal. Rebate took awhile (just arrived this week, 3 months later) but came thru okay.

Most Critical Review

Poor product - stay away

EVERCOOL K801-825CA Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink
EVERCOOL K801-825CA Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink

Pros: Low price.

Cons: Adapter plate for fan was broken, sensor circuit for fan did not work/non-functional.

Overall Review: Unit was inside a box that had too much space (no padding) and must have bounced around. (Not Newegg's fault - this was just poor box design from manufacturer). Two of the 4 little tabs were broken off and the fan would not stay on the heatsink. I had to "old school" it and replace the screws with longer ones to bite into the cooling fins. Also, the sensor circuit of the fan was bad. Tried booting up the PC but it shut off after 4-5 seconds prior to POST. After a couple of "hair-pulling" hours, I found the problem. Used an 80mm case fan I had (w/sensor) and the PC booted fine. Replaced fan with original and PC would not boot. Appears sensor circuit is bad and PC was shutting down since it could not detect fan spin to save prevent CPU damage. It would have been two-thirds to equal price to return this thing, so I just ditched the bad fan and used only the heatsink with my screws to "fix" the broken fan plate. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!

Great 2TB+ Housing

Thermaltake Silver River 5G ST0025U Aluminum 3.5" Black SATA I/II/III USB 3.0 External Enclosure
Thermaltake Silver River 5G ST0025U Aluminum 3.5" Black SATA I/II/III USB 3.0 External Enclosure

Pros: No issues at all with this enclosure. Prior reviews said the wrong screws were enclosed. I guess they fixed that as none were enclosed with mine! Just pulled some out of my parts box and drive installed fine. I needed an enclosure to hold a 2.5TB (2500GB) WD drive & most stop at 2TB. Once connected, Win7 installed the appropriate drivers and drive was visible in Computer Management. Set it up as a GPT drive so it would recognize the entire drive. MBR drives max out at 2TB so it showed it as 2 drives (Primary & Secondary partitions). Vista & higher can recognize GPT drive formats up to 9TB I believe.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: It's been running for 3 hours and housing is still cool to the touch. I have several enclosures for backup drives and find Thermaltake & Vantec to be the best. Comes with free cheapie screwdriver! Hey, it's free... and works.
