Most Favorable Review

I love it. You will too.

ASUS Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card EAH4870/HTDI/512M
ASUS Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card EAH4870/HTDI/512M

Pros: Switched from a 9800 GTX and I must say.. Wow. Out of the box I turned up the clocks to 790/1100 and set the fan speed to 30% with ASUS's Smart Doctor utility. It severely outperforms my 9800 GTX and gets to 60c max load and I can't even hear the fan at 30%

Cons: Let's just hope my rebate goes through... I've had terrible luck with rebates.

Overall Review: The past 5 video cards I've owned have been nVidia. My motherboard is nVidia too. But I get this weird feeling that this Xmas I'll be buying a crossfire board and adding a second 4870. ATI needs some more business to remain competitive anyways. Not a huge fan of monopolies =P

Most Critical Review

They were amazing... for 3 days...

Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AL804
Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AL804

Pros: Wow these were so darn fast for the first couple days. I started off running them at spec timings and voltage. They gave me a 8392/8393 int/float in Sandra, and my computer seemed to do everything twice as fast..

Cons: ... then they died. Errors in memtest, errors in Prime95 within 5 seconds... no matter what I put the timings/voltage to... I tried everything. Put every part on my computer back to stock. Tried super-loose timings. Everything. I didn't want to let it be true... but it was..

Overall Review: They looked and performed great. I just got unlucky with a bad set. I never overvolted them, just set them to spec. (they were HOT to the touch when I took them out) I'll come back to Crucial one day. Gonna try G.Skill, Kingston, and TeamXtreem until I find some stable sticks.

A very VERY good game with lasting appeal

Sins of a Solar Empire PC Game
Sins of a Solar Empire PC Game

Pros: Very very impressed with this game. Has all the things from a RTS and a turn=based strategy game combined into one. I don't know anyone who has played this game and didn't like it. Runs on ANY computer. 3 years old? Integrated graphics? No prob. Got a brand new $400 video card? The game will look AMAZING.

Cons: AI is apparently too cowardly and runs away if they are losing the battle, but they are changing this with their second free update! Can't wait!

Overall Review: Try it out. I think there is a demo, or it's coming soon. You will enjoy it.

One of the best games I've ever played

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Import) PC Game
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Import) PC Game

Pros: One of the best games in the world. Tops all the charts, beats Crysis by a mile. Runs on cards as old as the 7xxx series! Very very popular game. AMAZING single player campaign (I normally HATE anything single player) but I couldn't let go of this game.

Cons: There are hackers in multiplayer. I guess you can say that in any game there are hackers, but these companies MUST do a better job of keeping a 100% hack-free multiplayer enviornment. Either punkbuster or activision is getting owned by the 15-year olds with no lives, no cars, no girls, just their hacks.

Overall Review: xfire = Gorfy (if you need lessons)
