Great machine

Comments: I purchased 3 of these, one for myself, one for business, one for a family member. They are simply a fantastic value. Pros: Strong processor, good battery life, huge hard drive, DVD burner, extremely light, wireless adapater has great range Cons: Weak display (Mirage 2 might as well be a 2-d adapter only), color saturation on screen When I got this, I was extremely impressed with it. Battery life was well above the indicated 3 hours for light use. My programming environment ran snappily. Upon moving into a color-sensitive graphics environment, I immediately noticed how poor the color saturation and fidelity of the LCD panel was. After some tweaking, it displays nicely, but the fact that the laptop doesn't ship with color tables speaks poorly of the product. Overall though, it's the only "con" that wasn't expected. (Who _didn't_ know Mirage2 sucked?) I highly recommend this product as a 2d-only desktop replacement. It's extremely solid.
Solid machine with one GLARING defect

Pros: It is a solid machine, with good specs. It's fast, small, quiet, with a nice footprint that makes people say... "hey, what's that?"
Cons: This is a serious, glaring omission on AOpen's part: the BIOS on this machine (1.06) is incorrect and the SATA is disabled. The solution to the problem is extremely tedious (can be found on the AOpen support eForum, in the XC Cube section), and has the possibility of bricking your computer.
Overall Review: I would not suggest anyone buy this product that is using a SATA and does not have the resources and know-how to fix this glaring problem. Besides this, it is a great machine, and would do well with most spare-parts users.
Flexible, but beefy, server chassis

Pros: - Flexible design: lots of space, everything is hot-swappable. - Configurable: can pretty much fit any motherboard, EATX and under. - SATA backplane is amazing.
Cons: - The power supplies are flaky: One came in dead. A friend who assembles server chassis (what's the plural of chassis?!) for a living says they're about 1 out of 20 dead (remember, there's 3 per chassis). - User documentation is extremely limited, and it doesn't show up on Supermicro's support list unless you seriously DIG.
Overall Review: This case is seriously worth the money. I have never dealt with something as easily configurable as this case.
Great product

Pros: - Duplex scanning - Absolutely brainless operation - Tiny form factor for this fast and feature-filled of a machine - _Extremely_ fast operation - Handles good-condition paper extremely well - Did I mention extremely fast?
Cons: - Installation creates a directory in "My Documents" called "My ScanSnap" in the "My Pictures" vein, which to me is annoying. - I'd rate paper handling at somewhere between 3 and 4; this is not the scanner for crumpled stacks of old paper.
Overall Review: I'd say the software (which effortlessly creates PDFs with one touch) and paper-handling are the only two things that could possibly get better with this machine. It's faster than most printers, does its work phenominally, and transfers it very quickly with the USB 2.0. Great product for the money.
Excellent product

Pros: - Newest driver (4.3.0.0 at time of writing) adds WPA encryption and Wireless Access Point ability. - Includes low-profile bracket for use in media-center-type PCs - Antenna worked extremely well.
Cons: - Antenna has a short cord (approximately 36 inches?) - Retail driver does not support WPA or access point. (Download the most recent driver.)
Overall Review: This is a solid card for the money, and the most recent driver adds functionality that should only be expected for high-end products. To get it in a low-dollar product is fantastic.
Very nice product for the money

Comments: I purchased three of these units, along with some Sempron 64s, 80gig SATA drives, and a gig of GEIL ram. The rigs perform flawlessly in an office environment, and are a great buy. The interior is cramped, but the design allows for easy access to all the components. My only real reservations about these units are: - noisy startup. Once they are running, they are nice and quiet. - the fit and finish of the cd-rom drives, and "stealthing" bay leave something to be desired. The plastic bezel makes it a bit difficult to close the drive once it is extended, and the front bezel actually impedes correct placement of the internal cdrom/hd caddy, to a small degree - the only poorly placed connector on the motherboard is the floppy connect. I received a free floppy, and man oh man, it's a pain in the rump to connect that FDC. Unexpected pros: - nice and quiet (once it has started up) - quality of included heatsink/fan is great - convenient placement of components Overall, this is a great buy. It looks slick as ... heck, and performs very well. I'd highly recommend it.
