Most Favorable Review

Great motherboard at a decent price

GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 (WiFi AC) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 (WiFi AC) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: For a 300-series motherboard, has plenty of options 64 GB RAM max Lots of LED options Plenty of fan power Great audio Lots of expansion ports

Cons: The sound card cover running down the left side of the motherboard stops you from installing Intel Optane 900 PCIe cards. Gigabyte's software is a kludgy and slow even with lots of ram and a good CPU

Overall Review: I've been an ASROCK customer for my past two systems. This time I gave Gigabyte a try again. I was not disappointed.

Most Critical Review

Light, comfortable, but lower quality sound.

GIGABYTE Aorus H5 Circumaural Gaming Headset
GIGABYTE Aorus H5 Circumaural Gaming Headset

Pros: Headphones are light and comfortable, especially for folks, like me, with larger heads. Ear cups are comfortable, and stay at a decent temp most of the time. The volume control on the earphone is convenient and works well.

Cons: VERY poor bass response. Sound quality from these is mid level at best. Probably at the lower level of mid-level. Mic is horrible. You have to have it up close to work properly and even then it doesn't do well. Needs constant adjustment. Aorus software is very VERY hit or miss. Sometimes it picks up the headphones, other times it does not.

Overall Review: For the price, they are not bad. If you want sound quality, spend 150+ dollars. You won't regret it.

Quiet and Efficient.

CoolerMaster MasterLiquid PL240 FLUX Close-Loop AIO CPU Liquid Cooler, Dual Chamber Pump, Ceramic Bearing Impeller, Enlarged Copper Base, ARGB PL-Flux 120mm Fans for AMD Ryzen/Intel 1700/1200/115X
CoolerMaster MasterLiquid PL240 FLUX Close-Loop AIO CPU Liquid Cooler, Dual Chamber Pump, Ceramic Bearing Impeller, Enlarged Copper Base, ARGB PL-Flux 120mm Fans for AMD Ryzen/Intel 1700/1200/115X

Pros: Quiet even when the system is under heavy load. Efficient, can cool the 13th gen Intel stuff without issue. Not all that expensive.

Cons: Cabling is not fun. The documentation provided is on a tiny, printed booklet and not the easiest to read at that size. The screws and connectors are not labeled the same as the documentation. May take you some time to figure out what screws are what. Cables are a bit "messy" even when strapped down. They are a little bulky.

Overall Review: Not bad for the price. Take your time installing.

You want a mid-tier CPU that is better than last gen's top of the line?

Intel Core i7-13700KF - Core i7 13th Gen Raptor Lake 16-Core (8P+8E) P-core Base Frequency: 3.4 GHz E-core Base Frequency: 2.5 GHz LGA 1700 125W Desktop Processor - BX8071513700KF
Intel Core i7-13700KF - Core i7 13th Gen Raptor Lake 16-Core (8P+8E) P-core Base Frequency: 3.4 GHz E-core Base Frequency: 2.5 GHz LGA 1700 125W Desktop Processor - BX8071513700KF

Pros: Then this is the CPU for you. Absolutely CRUSHES it in performance. Its noticeably faster than the i9-12900k. And can keep up with the i9-13900k and the top-of-the-line AMD CPU's. For less money, less heat and less power draw. Can use that "last gen" Z690 mobo if you have one. No problems at all.

Cons: You must use Windows 11 to get best performance Fast DDR is also recommended

Overall Review: It's not cheap, but it does everything well that can be thrown at it. If you want something better than the i5 for a bit more money, it's the way to go. Can keep up with both Intel's and AMD's top of the line stuff most of the time.

The standard by which 1000 watt PDUs are judged

CORSAIR HX1000i CP-9020214-NA 1000 W ATX12V 2.4 / EPS12V 2.92 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply
CORSAIR HX1000i CP-9020214-NA 1000 W ATX12V 2.4 / EPS12V 2.92 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply

Pros: 1000 watts. Will take care of everything, including the new i9-13900's AND a Nvidia 4090. Fully modular. iCue support. Supports the latest and greatest motherboards and GPUs

Cons: Heavy and pricey. Are there cheaper 1000-watt PDU's out there? Of course there are. But will they stand up like the Corsair? Doubtful. They are heavy, because it's a 1000-watt PSU with lots of heat spreaders. So, I recommend only a bottom mount for these. The cables are MEH. Almost too short for a mid-tower ATX case to reach all the motherboard power inputs.

Overall Review: Recommended for today's CPU & GPU's, Intel, Nvidia, AMD, doesn't matter. Having 1000 watts available never hurts. Only bottom mount this beast. Get better cables (that are rated for this wattage and amperage!)

Honestly I didn't know how fast this drive was.

WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express 4.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS100T2X0E

Pros: FAST FAST FAST FAST. Like crazy fast. I was honestly not expecting this SSD to be as fast as it was. I didn't buy it to be my boot disk, but once I saw how fast it was compared to the 980 Pro, I swapped them. No real worries about heat or power draw of course. Just some good fast storage.

Cons: A bit on the pricey side, but you honestly get what you pay for.

Overall Review: If you want Windows 11 to boot in seconds. If you want to stick something like Star Citizen on a FAST disk. If you want some decent capacity. Then this is the SSD for you.

Poor shipping and middling communication

The package actually disappeared for almost a full week. USPS had no idea where it was. Contacted seller who wasn't very helpful. Package eventually did arrive, 10 days after it was supposed to.
