A Real Value for Your Money
Pros: Solid performance and being able to unlock 2 more cores makes this an exceptional value for the money. Using in a new WHS2011 build to transcode and stream movies from my RAID5.
Cons: Nothing so far
Overall Review: Been using AMD processors for 10+ years and have had no regrets. Was considering i3 but found this paired it with ASROCK 880GM-LE motherboard and 8G (4Gx2) G.Skill F3-10600CL9D-8GBnt memory and saved some serious cash.
Orphaned but So What
Pros: Best bang for the buck available with recent flooding in Thailand and China holding back exports of rare earths needed for mfg of hard drives. It was recognized and formatted flawlessly, quiet and runs cool.
Cons: Absolutely no prisoners here
Overall Review: Seagate's announcement of restructuring their entire drive line sees the end of the 5900 RPM product. As this is installed in a WHS 2011 box, it really is immaterial. Have used Seagate in past and never had qualms then or now.
Great Value
Pros: Plugged in and it worked. No tweaking of BIOS needed. Using in new WHS 2011 with ASROCK 880GM-LE motherboard and AMD Phenom II X2 555 CPU unlocked
Cons: None
Overall Review: First time I have not had to return part of memory purchase because of failure on memtest 86 or BIOS errors.
Pros: 5 SATA connections, 6, unlock and overclock capable. Also has onboard IDE and basic RAID capabilitie and onboard VGA & DVI connectors. Decent features and price makes this a great value motherboard.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Installed AMD Phenom II X2 555 and was able to unlock 2 more cores. Using with G.Skill 4Gx2 F3-10600 CL9D memory and IcyDock MB982SPR-2S for WHS 2011 server. Best bang for the buck I could find.
Works As Advertised
Pros: RAID1 capability in a single 3.5 inch slot that only uses one SATA connection on the motherboard. Setup was painless and troublefree. Using as RAID1 on OS drives for WHS2011. Anyone with a modicum of knowledge in setting up a PC should have no problems.
Cons: As others have stated, would be nice if the status LEDS were on the front rather the rear. Also would like to have option for black rather than silver. Not a big enough issue to drop an egg.
Overall Review: This is not a flimsy plastic that feels cheap. It is constructed of metal and is well engineered. I have no hesitation in either recommending or purchasing additional units!
