Strong Performer, Long Life

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 105W None Integrated Graphics Processor - BX80562Q6600
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 105W None Integrated Graphics Processor - BX80562Q6600

Pros: This thing just keeps running strong, after almost 8 years. I used it for a long time as part of my gaming computer, and now my wife uses it for digital art and it's still running strong. It's still using the original mobo I bought with it, an Intel P35DP. There have literally been no problems with it and, if my wife hadn't needed a computer, there's a large chance I'd still be using it. No need to replace it.

Cons: Discontinued which is a shame as a budget minded system builder with a need for performance could find it with this.

Overall Review: Can still run games great when paired with a decent video card and 8 gigs of RAM. I've had power supplies and video cards die in this machine but the CPU has been an amazing, unfailing workhorse. Easily 5 eggs through the nearly 8 years it's been running.

Excellent buy

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 105W None Integrated Graphics Processor - BX80562Q6600

Pros: This chip is phenomenal. Installed on an Intel DP35DP motherboard, 2 sticks of 2GB G.Skill DDR2 667 (4GB total RAM), and it runs like a champ. No heating issues, just keeps going and going.

Cons: None from the product itself, just what I installed it on.

Overall Review: I've been running this chip on stock cooling at it's native clock speed since I got it and it's great. I've never had it under a full load, nothing I do seems to get it there. I mostly game and some 2D art programs (Adobe Creative Suite) so there's no video rendering but still. I've heard this chip is excellent for OC but unfortunately, the board I installed it on won't support overclocking, so I'm stuck at the stock clock speed. Like I said though, I've never managed to push all the cores to 100%, so it's not really necessary. This is an excellent processor. I would (and have) recommend it to anyone. The machine is as follows: Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz Intel DP35DP Motherboard 4GB G.SKILL DDR2 667 RAM w/ heat spreaders 500w Antec Phantom PSU Sapphire Radeon HD4850 512MB 120GB Western Digital HD 7200 RPM (I forget specifics) 250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM HD

Amazing!

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card 100242L

Pros: This card is simply amazing. I'd been running an old Radeon 9800 Pro since that card was new so this is quite an upgrade for me. So far, I haven't been able to find a game that can get this card to run at less than 55 fps at full graphics. Neverwinter Nights 2, Mass Effect, and Medieval II Total War run flawlessly. I haven't had a chance to try out Crysis yet, but I hope to soon.

Cons: It runs a bit warm, but it's not too bad.

Overall Review: Quite honestly, this card is the best buy on the market now. It runs any game at highest graphics without a hiccup, it runs very quiet, and the price is unbeatable. My current setup is: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4gigs G-Skill DDR2 667, Intel DP35DM Mobo, Antec Phantom 500W psu, 120 and 250GB Seagate Barracuda HDD 7200RPM, HP Sata 20X DVD Burner, and a generic Thermaltake Case running Windows Vista Ultimate x86 SP1

Terrible Retailer

As many have said, I wish I could have rated this with 0 eggs. I purchased a new Microsoft Surface Pro 2 for my wife's birthday (she does illustration work) and I thought to surprise her with something I knew she would love. It is now a week after her birthday, I have received no official communication from the retailer. I have tried emailing, calling, leaving voicemail, no response. I was directed to call via their message during their business hours, which were told to me. I called the next day, well within their business hours and I got the same voicemail message. My card was charged the day after I made my purchase. I'm now waiting for a refund. I will never buy from this seller again and, unfortunately, it makes me wary of purchasing on Newegg again. I have never had a bad experience before and this is the first black mark on their record.
