Intel Celeron 430 - Celeron Conroe-L Single-Core 1.8 GHz LGA 775 35W Processor - BX80557430

Pros: Mounted this CPU on a Shuttle K48 by myself for the first time! It was very easy, following simple but clear explanations. Worked perfectly.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Outstanding buy for the price.

Disappointment

ENCORE ENUWI-N 802.11n Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates
ENCORE ENUWI-N 802.11n Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: I bought it for a new custom built system based on the Shuttle K48 box. It worked as soon as I installed XP, and even allowed me to download the drivers for the motherboard.

Cons: For reasons unclear to me, after I finished updating XP to SP3 the adapter was unable to connect to my home network. At times it would intermittently connect but was never able to obtain an IP address. I tried everything, updating drivers, using the enclosed utility, called customer service. A very polite tech was unable to resolve the problem. After a couple of days, I was told that the device is incompatible with Win XP SP3, and that I had to rollback to SP2. I rolled back to SP2 and the problem presented exactly as for SP3.... I have just requested an RMA.

Overall Review: I am not sure what is incompatible with this device in my system, but it surely did not work for me at all. Custumer support is actually easily accessible by phone, polite and competent. I really wished it would have worked for me.

Reliable so far

WD Red Plus 3TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s, CMR, 64MB Cache, 3.5 Inch - WD30EFRX

Pros: Easy to install, no errors after more than 6 months of use.

Cons: I bought two in May 2013, one failed on formatting. Newegg replaced it without problems.

Overall Review: I bought 2 of these 3TB to expand a ReadyNAS Ultra 4, and one failed on initial disk check by the NAS. Newegg replaced it without problems, and after 6 months I got no errors. I also bought two 2TB disks of the same kind for an older ReadyNAS Duo, to replace older faiing disks and these formatted correctly. No errors so far. Considering that 1 out of 4 disks are good, and the average score in the reviews, I decided to buy 2 more to replace the remaining two disks in the Ultra4, and expand capacity. The price is excellent, in my view, and the warranty (and the positive experience with Newegg RMA) give more comfort. I would have given a 5-egg score were it not for the one failed drive.

Excellent Buy

TRENDnet TE100-P1P Parallel Print Server RJ45 IEEE 1284 Male Centronics (DB-36)
TRENDnet TE100-P1P Parallel Print Server RJ45 IEEE 1284 Male Centronics (DB-36)

Pros: Easy to install in my old LaserJet 5L. The utility was able to find the printer in my networ from 4 different computers running Win XP Pro SP2,3, MC and Vista Ultimate without problems, once I got throught the initial snag (see below). Now it works flawlessly.

Cons: It comes with a default IP address that conflicted with my router - in fact it was the same as my DSL modem... Luckily, the discovery utility was able to find the server and after some guess work (forget the "manual" that comes with it... it just tells you to plug the server in the printer and connect an ethernet cable - thank you very much for the help!), I was able to reset the IP address to DHCP.

Overall Review: Since you will set up your printer connected to the server in each computer as a network printer with an IP port, with a specific IP address, it is convenient to set your router to assign a static IP address to the server.
