Pros: Optical out!! Finally I can hook up the Z-5500's the right way, with less wires. Very easy install, no Creative crapware to deal with. Auzentech appears to have a straightforward driver package, finally.
Cons: None yet. A little pricey with no rebate, but no big deal
Overall Review: Traded out a Xtremegamer for this. There is actually an audible difference. Just being able to use the optical out has dropped that annoying hum I was getting ever since hooking up the coax cables. Havent noticed any difference in gaming to either give the xram a thimb up or down.
Watch DIVX on the bigscreen!
Pros: The future is here! I have the media player paired with a 500 gig WD passport and they look exactly alike. These two were made to go together to include the stand that WD included with the player in order to stand up the passport. They both have identical finishes as well. This thing has played every format I've thrown it's way, that DIVx, Creative, Windows Media Player was unable to. To include AC3, DIVx.
Cons: None really, except that after powering off the Media Player the hard drive still stays active.
Overall Review: Make sure to update the firmware first!! My 720p Samsung doesnt show these AVI files as crystal clear as I was expecting. Hopefully a new 1080p Pioneer Kuro will rectify that very minor gripe. ;)
Pros: Size, ease of use, speeds are good with me as well. Plug and play, no need that I can see to load the included cd.
Cons: None, glossy black exterior might smudge easy if you want to be extremely picky.
Overall Review: Bought this in conjunction with a WD Media player. People, the future is here. I have put over 130 AVI movies, all of my digital pictures and about 35 gigs of MP3's on this thing and still not close to being full. 500 gig is alot of media, I cant honestly think as a casual user that I'll ever fill this thing up.
More pros than cons
Pros: Huge capacity, fast reads and writes. I use mine striclty for DIVX movies and CD Ripped music. This thing is basically a mobile media center for me. I listen to music and watch movies straight from the stick. Why burn DVD's? Nice lanyard and USB 6"extender cable round out a pretty sweet package. Sturdy rubber construction. I currently have over 20 movies plus 10 or so gigs of music with still 10 gigs left!!!!
Cons: Only one con with this thing. Stupid placement of lanyard. Cap is rubber, not snap on, and I think will be easily lost. Most thumb drives out there attach the lanyard to the cap so as not to lose it. Not Patriot, the cap is free floating and the lanyard is attached via a RUBBER ring. One good yank and it's toast. So you risk losing the cap and tearing the lanyard off this guy. Alot of potential for a $100 heartbreak. If you beat up your thumbdrives you may want to pass on this one, you have to handle this one with kid gloves.
Overall Review: Hope my rebate comes through
No major problems except 1
Pros: For the most part this is the windows we all know and love (hate) Im not a power user by any means nor a techie. I havent noticed a slowdown of my pc since installing Vista. Almost aoo of my software and games have installed flawlessly over from XP. Overall Im satisifed.
Cons: BF2 and VOIP have casued me some serious nightmares. Alot of horror stories are on the web concerning Vista and BF2. Plus, I added in the Creative X-Fi soundcard to the mix to make things totally confusing. Windows detects the mic but the program wont most of the time. It seems I cant get consistent results. I have heard of other multiplayer games and programs presenting VOIP problems with Vista also.
Overall Review: Service Pack is almost out. We'll see what happens. XP wasnt awesome right off the bat either.
