Quiet and cool

TOSHIBA DT01ACA300 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
TOSHIBA DT01ACA300 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: A super great 3TB. it is very quiet and cool I spent 6 hours transfering over 300 DVDs and Blurays and the drive wasnt even warm in my hand. I have no problems what so ever. Boots up fast and easy just like any 500gb hard drive would. All 3TB hard drives or larger windows only allows 2TB to be partitioned and any thing else is unallocated

Cons: Just as dan350zr stated in his review. Windows only allows 2TB to be partition when formated. Go to the right Payne and right click, you will get one option that says: Convert to GPT Partition. Click on that and you will suddenly have one 3 TB unallocated partition, before you actually start the GPT conversion make sure your split partitions are both Unallocated, if not just delete any that say Allocated or formatted or whatever.

Overall Review: much more stable and solid than Seagate's hard drives to me.

For reference cards 1st gen

ZALMAN VF3000A EBR Bearing VGA Cooler
ZALMAN VF3000A EBR Bearing VGA Cooler

Pros: These VF3000A coolers are actually made for reference cards (1st gen) only. But with little mods it has drop temps on my powercolor HD5850 PCS+ idle to around 38c. Loaded it hovers at 58c and ran at 53c with 2010 Aliens vs. predator and crysis max out. Not a huge improvement over the stock PCS+ except when over clocking. Although it is enough to pay for itself! Never goes above 64c with any game or video I have used on it. Twin blue 92mm fans help cool also the ram and board, remove the red shroud to reduce size and help evacuate any heat buildup. Didn’t use the supplied fan controller instead used one leg of my 3.5 slot four fan controller. I love this cooler!

Cons: Only for Ist gen reference cards. Have to mod for newer cards. Cut the only long ram heat sink in half to fit onto any one of the memory ram chips (you'll understand when you see it). Also removed the stock DrMOS ram heat sink at the rear due to size and fitment and replaced with Enzotech BCC9 copper heat sinks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708009&Tpk=Enzotech%20BCC9 Its huge size will make trouble for those who will run in crossfire.

Overall Review: I cannot understand how a VGA cooler could brick a card when the cooler is completely independent from all electrical components of the card it is a physical mechanical device. Maybe unless the original cooler was removed harshly and the new was installed poorly. Always apply your thermal grease evenly across the chipset, sit the cooler on and see if it makes a impression in the grease with the rubber o-rings on; if not then remove the rubber o-rings, tighten the screws up evenly in a x pattern slowly. I always use GPUZ to monitor the temps of the VGA after installation, if it seems to get hot quick then shut off the computer and remove the VGA and check the cooler mounting or if the thermal grease is applied correctly (not to thick and not to thin either a nice even coat).

12v. high speed

EVERCOOL FAN-LD6025B-EC2 60mm Blue LED Crystal Blue LED Light Case Fan
EVERCOOL FAN-LD6025B-EC2 60mm Blue LED Crystal Blue LED Light Case Fan

Pros: Really impressed with these fans alot more quite than any other 60mm fan that I have used. The LEDs are very bright blue rather than cheaper fans with purplish blue color. Used two of these connected to a fan controller in a Apex TX381 case side cover to blow across my ATi HD4870 with excellant results. Excellant air flow at both 5v and 7.5v; really whisper quiet @ 7.5v and LEDs are bright. Ran at full 12v and its a totally differant beast; super loud (can hear it through out eniter hose three rooms away) sounds like five freight trains are drag racing the living room. Probably not idea without a fan controller.

Cons: Very thick. the depth is taller than most 92mm fans @ 1.2" and loud at 12v.

Overall Review: Keeps my ATi HD4870 happy at 34c idle and 63c maxed and looks really nice in the bottom of the Apex TX381 case

Solid and Quiet

LITE-ON Black 8X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Disc Combo Model iHES208-08 LightScribe Support
LITE-ON Black 8X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Disc Combo Model iHES208-08 LightScribe Support

Pros: Super smooth solid operation, little viberation, quiet during dvd burning or disk playing, solid feel, tray opens and closes smooth and solid,The unit has a bit heavy feel. Plays all the bluray disks I own and havent needed to do a firmware update yet. Excellant price.

Cons: has a operating green LED instead of Blue. Oh well opened face plate and solder the green LED out and in with a blue LED. Same old basic Lite-on design.

Overall Review: Seams better overall quility than the LG UH08LS10 bluray combo i have in another build, though not as flashly or as attractive as the LG. Tray is super smooth and quiet and opens quick and the unit has a heavier feel. And in other reviews the most bluray problems lye in the software and not in the hardware. Dont knock the drive if the software wont function properly. Some software will play some blurays and some will play other and some wont play at all. Software or firmware is not a set standared yet as the bluray industry keeps changing their encryption almost everyday. So till then it is who's who on playback.

Earned my full trust and confidence

AZZA Dynamo 500 500 W ATX 12V Ver 2.2 Power Supply
AZZA Dynamo 500 500 W ATX 12V Ver 2.2 Power Supply

Pros: Super quiet, huge 120mm fan keeps it pulling cool fresh air never had a heating issue, Plenty of SATA and Molex connections to accomplish any setup or future proof, cable length is just right never too short, Connections are very tight and strong, Fully protected with thermal, over voltage, short, etc., Bright blue LEDs are blue not off color very nice. Well made with a perfect price on such a great unit!

Cons: Cables are not module and can easily become a mess but I was aware of this at time of purchased, easily Remedy with cable ties. Connections are sometimes very tight making for a hard removal, but I would rather them be tight. Con: wish I purchased mine from newegg.

Overall Review: Excellant CPS. Earned my full trust and confidence in it. I've owned the AZZA 500w over a year in my secondary PC and it is one of the best power supplies ever owned! Some people complain about it being loud? It is so quiet I can not hear it run! I also have the AZZA Dynamo 850w in my primary PC and I can say the same thing for it also. Just a great CPS

PC 8500 or 6400

Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Desktop Memory Model 996777
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Desktop Memory Model 996777

Pros: Great overclocking speed and heatsink design make this memory excellant for gaming for DDR2 speeds. I have been running 8gb of this memory and have not had any issus. I overclock this memory and being air cooled it maintains temperature around 110 F while gaming but could there be more? 5 eggs for excellant memory

Cons: 4 eggs because Mushkin (not newegg) advertises this memory at PC 8500 but when overclocking I use the CPU-Z or the PC wizard programs to see the results of tweeking it. Both programs state the memory is PC-6400 @ 5-5-5-18 399Mhz pc800 before overclocking. (It is being overclocked beyond this) but could I get a higher overclocking speed if it was as advertised at PC-8500 being 6-6-6-18? I have yet to hear back from Mushkin tech support. is Mushkin #996777 really 991777 with a heatsink?
