Works flawlessly - so far!
Pros: Installation was smooth for W7 64 bit system. Plug and play detection and driver installation works well. Drives connected to internal sata ports are plug and play. Asmedia 106x controller.
Cons: Sata (internal) or esata (external) determined by jumper settings. 4 ports total, but only 2 can be used at a time. This is well documented though.
RMA
Pros: none
Cons: Tried all manner of drivers (included CD, Siig downloads, Silicon Image downloads). My 64bit W7 system constantly froze while the card was installed regardless if external drives were attached or not.
Overall Review: Don't know if the card was defective or if the drivers were bad or incompatible with my system.
RMA
Pros: none
Cons: Tried supplied drivers, Startech downloads and Marvell drivers from station-drivers.com. All reported errors on installation and no attached drives were detected. Strangely device manager reported that the card was working properly. I worked with Startech support and they determined the card was defective.
Overall Review: Startech rep recommended their PEXESAT322I card which is not found by Newegg.ca search using terms "esata" and "card" but is found by searching the Startech part number. I bought the card from Newegg.ca and it has worked flawlessly.
