Does its job

Targus 17" XL Laptop Backpack - TXL617
Targus 17" XL Laptop Backpack - TXL617

Pros: The laptop fits in its respected place in the backpack perfectly. It has enough compartments for all the extras (mouse, power cord, external floppy, LAN cable, etc.) plus my portable gaming systems, MP3 Player, and anything else I might bring along.

Cons: I feel as though there should be more padding around where you put the laptop. However, as it is it's good enough. As long as I don't slam the bag against a brick wall, it should be good.

Overall Review: If you have a 17" notebook, then you don't have a lot of options. These large gaming machines have trouble fitting in most carrying bags, but this one works great. It has plenty of straps to help distribute the weight of the laptop plus extras, so although it's heavy it doesn't feel so much. Overall, I reccomend this product.

Sound began cutting out

Turtle Beach Ear Force X11 Amplified Stereo Headset with chat
Turtle Beach Ear Force X11 Amplified Stereo Headset with chat

Pros: Sound is pretty good when it worked (see cons). Cushion material on the headphones is very nice, very comfortable. The support for the mic bends and holds its position very nicely. The outbound audio quality is terrific. I love how it's cross-compatible with my pc. The cable is very long, nice if you like to sit far away from your tv. Powered by USB, which is also great so you don't have to mess with batteries.

Cons: Although an obvious necessity, the numerous cables involved to get it to work are a pain. Also, after about 3 hours of use the audio just began cutting out. I'd be playing a game, and bam, no left-channel audio and a few minutes later, no audio at all! Every couple minutes it may crackle or cut back in for a little. But basically, I just turn the sound off on the headset because it's not worth dealing with.

Overall Review: I could spend 10 dollars to send it back to newegg, but why bother? It's not worth the 10 dollars. It should've just worked in the first place. Also, the tech support at the turtle beach website sucks.

Works as intended

Insten 675827 6 ft. Black HDMI to Mini HDMI Mini HDMI to HDMI High Speed Cable M / M
Insten 675827 6 ft. Black HDMI to Mini HDMI Mini HDMI to HDMI High Speed Cable M / M

Pros: Fits into my (rather cramped) mini-hdmi port on my graphics card. Came with little caps to keep dust out when not in use. Works as intended

Cons: Feels thin and cheap. If I squeeze the cable I can tell there isn't much insulation, there doesn't seem to be any noticeable interference or glitches, so I guess it gets the job done though. I guess you get what you pay for.

Overall Review: As I said in pros, I had very little space near the mini-hdmi port on my graphics card adapter. I made sure to search for one with the bare minimum of plastic near the plug, this was the best I found, and it even still barely fits. Not a pro/con, but just a note to others to make sure to look at these things when buying for a graphics card. Be wary of your case and how much room you have. As I said before, the cable felt thin and cheap. I've read before that good insulation is important to keep interference away from the signal which could cause artifacts. At the same time, I've also read that "audiophiles" can't tell the difference between Monster cables and Coat-hangers, so maybe this cable will work perfectly fine for a long time. So far, that seems to be the case. For the price, you can't beat it.

Extreme value

ONKYO TX-NR509 5.1-Channel Network A/V Receiver
ONKYO TX-NR509 5.1-Channel Network A/V Receiver

Pros: connection options. Both on the output and input side (you can read the specs I don't need to list them). HDMI and component work great, I don't really use anything else (other than the RCA aux inputs) Internet Radio and Network sharing options work great. Controlling the receiver over the network was tricky (see cons), but that's kind of overkill anyway because the remote that came with the unit is amazing. I use it to control every piece of my Home Theatre setup (except my pc) including my xbox. The sound quality is great, I don't know what power the amp is, but it generates clean strong sound even at loud listening levels (see other thoughts for my set up). The front panel is clean and deceptively has plenty of controls (they blend right in, which is nice). Anything you can do with the remote you can do without the remote, which is always a plus for me.

Cons: Controlling the receiver through the network was a pain, and I had to download a third-party program to do it. Once I got the program though it works great. I also wish that I could have all of the inputs into the receiver come out of the receiver through one output. I.E. all my component, hdmi, composite, pc, etc. connections came out through one HDMI port. However, the receiver does not support this. All HDMI inputs come out through HDMI, all component must come out through one component output, etc. Not worth taking an egg off though, but definitely worth noting.

Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition - Core i7 Extreme Edition Gulftown 6-Core 3.33 GHz LGA 1366 130W Desktop Processor - BX80613I7980X

Pros: This thing is FAST. 6-cores + HT = 12 logical cores, I love it. Unlocked multiplier means very, very easy overclocking (I have mine running at 4ghz using the stock heat sink, I've been running this baby mostly 24/7 as a server. And yes, I host multiple games and still game without lag. This thing is ridiculous. I've heard reports of even higher OC on stock heat-sink. I just didn't feel like pushing it when I didn't need to). The stock heat sink is great, and has a switch right on it for two settings, performance and quiet. I keep mine on performance, but the quiet one was almost silent.

Cons: won't help me with girl problems.

Pros: lots and lots of connectors, plenty for everything I needed (and I had a LOT of fans that needed extra power). Cable management is great with this thing. The cables are already grouped together and bound, and CORSAIR included plenty of zip ties to help with the loose ends. 650W is plenty, even for a gaming PC (check other thoughts for my complete system).

Cons: none, wish it glowed is all ;)
