Hotrod 460

GIGABYTE Super Overclock Series GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card GV-N460SO-1GI
GIGABYTE Super Overclock Series GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card GV-N460SO-1GI

Pros: Cool. Silent. Fast. Got two for SLI to replace a GTX 295. Much better performace as far as video quality goes, more advanced rendering makes some games look a lot better. Frame rate improvement is not visably noticable in the games I play, but framerates in DX9 are blazing, and should be improved in DX10 as well as making DX11 a possibility.

Cons: Green lights on the back on the PCB. Had to change my light scheme.

Overall Review: Fan shrouds seem not too sturdy...was afraid to put too much pressure on them. Cooling system is amazing. Furmark gets them up to 65C running full screen 2560x 1600 maxed settings (32x MSAA) for the stability test. Posted a 9861 on Furmark 1280x1024 with 0xMSAA. Haven't overclocked yet, but they are stable enough to do it. intel core i7 975 @ 3.33Ghz 12Gb Corsair XMS3 1333 Asus P6T7 Supercomputer WS 1366 2x Gigabyte GTX 460 Superoverclock Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Loving the Built in Video...

EVGA 113-YW-E115-TR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 730i HDMI ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA 113-YW-E115-TR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 730i HDMI ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Thought I ought to go easy on my first build, and this built in video board with HDMI looked like the ticket. This thing has lots of extra USB headers and SATA ports! Built it with an E8500 Wolfdale, 4Gb of Crucial DDR2 800, and a couple of 120Gb SATA 1.5gb/s Seagates in RAID 0. Got Vista 5.9's in all departments but video, and this I got a 4.9 on 3D and a 3.9 in 2D. Overall a pretty good first time experience with a mobo.

Cons: I was fairly disappointed in the lack of documentation. No manuel, only a fold out map, and ZERO standoffs and screws, which I luckily got by without. The point deduct was for this major omit.

Overall Review: Not bad scores for built in video, but I am wondering if the XFX board with the serious heat sinks performs better than this one. I was hoping for a bit more performance.
