Gigabyte Tech Support Nightmare
Pros: Great specs for the board
Cons: Heaven help you if you have an issue.
Overall Review: The board arrived DOA. My fault for waiting more than 30 days to buy the processor...I couldn't just return it to Newegg (who are superb in dealing with RMAs). I contacted Gigabyte, who made me pay the shipping costs to ship their own DOA board back to them. Two weeks later, I get the board back (it had a bad chip that Gigabyte repaired). Now it just power cycles. Tech Support for Gigabyte had me pull the whole board back out (again) and test ram in each slot. Still no joy. Then I had to remove the heat sink and processor and photograph the processor bed. Tech support seemed to imply I had bent the pins. I told them "This is how the board came back to me...I know how to insert a processor. I did it fine the first time, and now there's an issue? Only people who have had their hands on it since it left my possession is you guys...and you didn't find any bent pins the first time, right?" So now I'm dealing with a engineer who's trying to "assess" from pictures if the pins are bent or not. Please. Just replace the board already. If you buy a Gigabyte product, pray it works right out of the box and that you never need their help.
faulty hdmi
Pros: mediocre board if you're not using it as an HTPC.
Cons: HDMI output is completely wrecked on this board. Works great with monitors, but mis-identifies every HDTV hooked up to it. . Definitely an issue with Zotac's implementation of the HDMI port, as the same build and driver package works fine on another HTPC. I shouldn't have to do an EDID override to make my PC work with my TV
Bunch of junk
Pros: None...absolutely none.
Cons: about 18 months ago I purchased a total of 4 of these drives. In that time, I have had to do an RMA for ALL of them. Every...single...drive...failed! I am religious about backups, but I've lost data due to backups of backups of backups failing with this series. NEVER again WD...never again.
Complete junk
Pros: Works for about 12 hours
Cons: I'm requesting my 3rd RMA on a single drive. Complete spindle lock-up both times.
Overall Review: There must be some serious quality control issues with the production of these drives. I've never had so many problems with *any* other drive I have owned. Not a good idea to purchase this drive series until WD gets their act togther.
