Quiet but hot - decent performance per $

XFX GeForce 6200 256MB GDDR2 AGP 8X Graphics Card PVT44AWANG
XFX GeForce 6200 256MB GDDR2 AGP 8X Graphics Card PVT44AWANG

Pros: The best feature about this card is the performance to dollar ratio. I just upgraded my mx440-128Mb card to this because I couldn't play Oblivion-Elder Scrolls. While this card barely makes it, it does allow for gameplay (sometimes choppy, but not too bad). No fan = no noise. Installed very easy if you follow the directions (the first "no instructions" attemp led to a blank screen, but low-and -behold, the instructions are right! Follow them.)

Cons: This thing runs hot in my machine. About 44c standing and up to 58c full load, I'm starting to think that a fan might have been a good idea. Not for super serious gamers--just casual gamers. It will handle most games at lower rez, but don't expect frame rates beyond 30 in most. The number of pipes/shaders at 128 bit will never harness the full 256Mb of onboard DDR2 ram. Don't let that number fool you into thinking it will be faster than a 128Mb verison of 6200.

Overall Review: New Egg is fast. I got my package in roughly 23 hours from the time I pressed the mouse button on my online order. This is the second order that has come next day, with the standard "three day" shipping.

Not Bad for Price

SAMSUNG 19" a-si TFT/TN WXGA+ LCD Monitor 4ms (GTG) D-Sub, DVI-D 941BW
SAMSUNG 19" a-si TFT/TN WXGA+ LCD Monitor 4ms (GTG) D-Sub, DVI-D 941BW

Pros: Very bright screen, DVI & VGA connectors, thin bezel, small footprint, light (I guess that's a plus), decent refresh rates, cheap price for a decent name brand.

Cons: One dead pixel (a little annoying, as I always want to brush it off the screen like it is a piece of dust). Faint light leakage on the top and bottom edge near the bezel. This tends to give the screen uneven blacks during movie playback. Images and especially text seem a little on the sharp side. Slight color calibration and gamma conflicts with video card. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the 1440 x 900 resolution that many monitor companies have adopted. My old 17" LCD had 1024 vertical, and I miss not having to scroll down on many screens. These companies should have kept the vertical resolution at 1024, and then adjusted the width to match the 16:10/16:9 aspect ratio. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these 19" monitors that run 1440 x 900 are using less effective pixels per inch and a 17inch running 1280 x 1024. This is something that I didn't think about when I purchased it.

Overall Review: Wide is good though. Somehow it feels like more space. Maybe more usable space, but once again I don't like that there are many webpages that were tailored to 1280 x 1024.

Pretty nice, but not perfect

SONY Micro Vault Tiny 1GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) USM-1GH
SONY Micro Vault Tiny 1GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) USM-1GH

Pros: One of the smallest USB thumb drives that I have seen for this storage size. USB 2.0.

Cons: No built in loop holder for keyrings and lanyards. It does come with a holster, but it is a little flamboyant (same with the useless sticker pack). Preloaded compression software only slows down the read/write times for only a little bit of positive results--a waste of speed and space. Not as incredible as I originally though when compared with micro SD cards, but then again you can't stick mico SD into a USB slot.

Overall Review: Maybe I should have purchased an extreme 2 SD duo (USB + SD in one card).
